Basecamp Newsletter Week 7 Term 1 This week our topic focus will change to 'My Magic Body'. We will be learning all about our body, its functions, and why it is so special. On Thursday afternoons we will be having a team interchange and the children will visit a different class each week, to learn about a different part of their body. Ask your child what they have learnt. This is also a good way to get to know different teachers in our team. Ss Sammy Snake is the letter of the week Our key focus this week is 'Sharing'. We will be focusing on asking for a turn, strategies for joining in an activity, turn taking and knowing what to do if conflict arises! This week our word of the week is: up. Please help your child to practise reading their word cards that they keep in their reading folder. Thanks! * Welcome to Harry Hawkes who starts school this week. * Welcome to Maggie Ardagh, Emilie Costa and Lucia Brown who will be visiting Basecamp this week. This week's Wednesday oral language topic is: * Tell us what you like about school. Please practise this at home first. * Remember to practise writing your letters in your homework book each night. We ask that the children do one line of writing each night. Don't forget to bring along something starting with Ss on Tuesday. * On Wednesday we will be having a working bee in Basecamp, 911am (it will be held down Miss Scotland's end). The purpose of the working bee is to make up a selection of new maths games for classroom use. If you have a little spare time and are happy to do some simple cutting and laminating, please come along! There will be coffee and plenty of people to chat to. Even if you can donate half an hour, we would be very grateful. Please email Jane Scotland if you are able to help - jane@mtpleasant.school.nz. Thanks!
