About The Trainer
Claimable under SBL
Susan Verghese has worked in the hospitality
training field for over 25 years which included hotel
schools and hospitality consultancies. She was
working in the housekeeping department of various
hotels for a number of years before she set her sights
on imparting her knowledge and experience to
students pursuing courses in hotel management.
Prior to her work experience, she attained relevant
academic qualifications which would aid her in
furthering her career both in the hospitality industry
as well as the education sector. This included a
Diploma in Hotel Management from Switzerland as
well as a Degree in Science majoring in Home
Economics. Susan was appointed to an executive
position in her first job at a resort after completing a
training stint in hospitality operations. Her
subsequent move to a prestigious city hotel proved
to be a good move since it was here she also
acquired a taste for conducting extensive training for
the staff of the housekeeping department. In 1987
she was certified as a Departmental Trainer for the
Hyatt International Corporation. Her move to the
education line in the hospitality industry was just an
extension of the capability she had in conducting
and facilitating training sessions. She has been
teaching and training for over 25 years in exclusive
hotel schools and hotels specializing in Certification
programs, Supervision, Train the Trainer,
Housekeeping and Hospitality English. She is a
Certified Instructor for the Educational Institute of
the American Hotel and Lodging Association
(AH&LA) as well as a Certified Hospitality Trainer
(CHT) for AH&LA. She is currently a consultant
trainer for MAHTEC, conducting certification
programs in Training and Supervision, Hospitality
English, Housekeeping both in city and resort hotels
as well as Diploma and Certification programs
offered by MAHTEC. She has upgraded her
professional qualification recently to include a CHT,
Certified Hospitality Trainer of the American Hotel
and Lodging Association and has facilitated the
