The Role: Reporting to the VP, International Education and Strategic Partnerships (VPIESP), the Director of International Marketing and Enrolment (IM&E) provides leadership in both strategic enrolment management (SEM) and marketing/recruitment for Douglas College's international operations. As part of the leadership team, the position assists and supports the VPIESP in the identification, development, advancement, implementation and assessment of strategies, structures, policies and procedures to increase and integrate international activities across the College. The Director is a main point of contact with College Faculties and service areas and works closely with Deans and Directors to promote and advance the growth and quality of international engagement at the College. Responsibilities: Under the general direction of the VPIESP, the Director of IM&E is accountable for the following: Leadership in International Marketing and SEM: 1. Provides leadership, building and maintaining a cohesive team of managers responsible for marketing and recruitment, as well as relevant student services 2. Represents the College, as appropriate, and works with colleagues at other institutions, government organizations and international associations, as well as with overseas clients and relevant groups, to advance the College's international strategy in marketing and enrolment 3. Designs and advances enrolment management strategies focused on recruitment and retention of international students 4. Develop strategies to position Douglas College as an attractive choice for high-achieving prospective international students 5. Tracks international student statistics and reports regularly to the VSIESP on international student enrolment, retention and success; 6. Designs and oversees the implementation of new international programs and services 7. Provides leadership in promoting and supporting diversity and intercultural appreciation at the College 8. Establishes and models standards of excellence related to ethical behavior, quality, efficiency and superior levels of client service Operations Management: 9. Manages budget, fiscal and other business matters for International Marketing and SEM in accordance with Douglas College policies 10. Manages the implementation of College policies and procedures relevant to International Marketing and SEM activities 11. Oversees the human resources planning, strategically ensuring that staffing will meet the current and future goals and objectives for marketing and relevant services in the International Office 12. Responsible for the effective management of resources to meet appropriate service standards and legislated requirements 13. Ensures that appropriate professional development opportunities are made available to Marketing and SEM staff to meet the International Office's ongoing need for growth and change 14. Ensures an effective, efficient and co-operative work environment Planning and Development: 15. In the context of the College's Strategic Plan, works with the VPIESP to develop strategic directions for International Marketing and SEM 16. Liaises with College Deans and their faculty members to strengthen SEM; negotiates international student access to College programs 17. Collaborates with the Office of the Registrar to promote and implement procedures needed to facilitate admissions, registration, credit recognition and credentialing services for international students 18. As part of the International management team, leads the facilities and equipment planning necessary to support the physical growth of the unit, as appropriate 19. Works collaboratively and proactively with all College service units, including, Human Resources, Purchasing, Risk Management, Finance and CEIT, as needed Communications: 20. In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Office, leads the branding of International Marketing and SEM at Douglas College, and oversees its reflections in information, promotion and marketing for international students 21. Ensures that International Marketing and SEM has an effective online presence and that emerging media is used to its best advantage and in keeping with the approved brand 22. Maintains a strong knowledge of up-to-date developments in the field of IE and develops and maintains an extensive professional network 23. To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need: 1. Minimum of graduate level studies in a relevant field (e.g., Marketing, Education, International Studies, Administration, Social Sciences, Organizational Leadership) 2. 7-10 years of related work experience, including at least five years of diversified management experience in the IE field 3. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in international strategic enrolment management (SEM); evidence of successful recruitment and retention results using SEM 4. Significant experience and successful results in international marketing and recruitment, and student services 5. Extensive knowledge of the post-secondary system and trends in Canada and internationally 6. Successful experience in working with faculty members, administrators and senior management to accomplish IE goals, including facilitating work-related experiences and placements for international students 7. Thorough knowledge of the federal Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada policies and procedures, and other national/provincial policies related to international students in post-secondary education 8. Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation, mediation, diplomacy, conflict resolution and intercultural communications, with a demonstrated commitment to collaborative and consultative processes 9. Excellent English language written and verbal skills, including strong skills in report, letter and speech writing and in public speaking 10. Demonstrated success in the development and management of significant budgets 11.
