Supplier Development Specialist
MAJOR PURPOSE:
Work on supply development projects to develop a supply chain capable of providing increased flexibility
and responsiveness, improved utilization of assets, improved quality and reduction of overall cost.
Leads/supports an improvement process with strategic suppliers for mutual sustainable benefits by
improving John Deere and supplier processes.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports Supplier Evaluation of local Russian suppliers.
Leads various audits to measure quality, order fulfillment, environment compliance Works with
suppliers to close gaps prior to awarding them business.
Leads NCCA closure and coordination. Maps and measures current supplier processes to collect
and analyze baseline data and identify waste.
Leads Capacity Evaluation and Improvement projects.
Supplier development tools utilized: Test Automation Knowledge Tools (TAKT) Time Process
Balance and John Deere Standard (JDS) G223 Assessment.
Identifies root cause of supplier deficiencies and develops/revises processes to eliminate
identified gaps in supplier processes.
Supplier Development tools utilized: Cycle Time Reduction, Set up Time Reduction and Work in
Process (WIP) and Inventory Reduction.
Establishes process controls, measurements and metrics, to assure containment of gaps in
supplier processes. Supplier Development Tools utilized: Product Parts Approval Process (PPAP)
and Demand Flow Technology (Lean Manufacturing).
Develops the charter to support the assigned supplier project.
Improve audit results. Resolve gaps in supplier quality management systems and capacity, when
suppliers have technical capabilities. Educate suppliers and bring them to the Deere level.
Lead quality and capacity improvement projects.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
English, Excel Previous experience with a foreign OEM in supplier development, supplier quality
or manufacturing engineering Understand drawings Skill in interpersonal communications,
negotiation, and conflict resolution. Knowledge of advanced data gathering and analysis
techniques, including statistical analysis
Performed quality and capacity audits per QS or TS standards
Written and spoken English – intermediate level
Good organizational skills
