Development Division
The Research and Development Division is to foster research and development across the University. During the past years, the number of academic exchange with universities in Taiwan and
abroad, academic papers published in journals, and collaboration projects with companies has
been increasing. This has proven that the University has made great progress in research and development.

Seven universities in the Kaohsiung area have constructed a learning-based project for area development. Each university has its own unique characteristics, including, Language and Literature,
Sightseeing and Tourism, Art Design, Law, Business Management, Medical Treatment, Biotechnology, Marine Technology, Electronic Engineering, and Photo-electronics. The university
ally aims to integrate the learning resources among these schools. It is hoped that in the future students can take courses in different schools and the credits are also granted. Additionally, teaching
staff, reference books and expensive instruments can be shared to reduce the possible waste and to
develop the latest technology. At present, the University Ally in Kaohsiung includes the National
University of Kaohsiung, National Kaohsiung Marine University, National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology, I-SHOU University, SHU-TE University, National Kaohsiung
University of Applied Sciences and National Kaohsiung Normal University.
The University has an excellent research team across different departments, including Financial
Law, Asia-Pacific Business and Area Development, Bio-technology, Photoelectronic Semiconductor, System of Chips, Communication and Information, Nano-Technology and Environmental
Engineering. This team aims to construct a human-technology based teaching and research environment, to lay the foundation for professional development, and to upgrade the
overall research and teaching environment. It is hoped that the University will
become a research-based university with international standards and will promote
the business and development in Southern Scientific Area, Kaohsiung Nan-Zi Scientific Area, Kaohsiung Bio-Technology Area and Kaohsiung Multi-Functional
Economy-Commerce Area. With technology and management, the industries can
be promoted and the ability for Taiwan to compete in the globe can be upgraded.
