The 4th International Workshop on Intelligent Data Analysis and Management
(IDAM’14)
Dates: December 8, 2014 – December 10, 2014
Collocated Events:
The 12th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia
(MoMM 2014)
The 4th International Workshop on Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing (AHUC 2014)
The 1st International Workshop on Protocol, Management, and Service in Wireless Mobile
Networks (PMSWMN 2014)
Workshop Themes:
Data analysis is a process of inspecting, cleaning, transforming, and modeling data with the
goal of highlighting useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision
making. Data management is the development, execution and supervision of plans, policies,
programs and practices that control, protect, deliver and enhance the value of data and
information assets [Wikipedia]. Data analysis and data management both have multiple
facets and approaches, encompassing diverse techniques under a variety of names, in
different business, science, and social science domains. Intelligent Data Analysis and
Management (IDAM) examines issues related to the research and applications of Artificial
Intelligence techniques in data analysis and management across a variety of disciplines. It is
an interdisciplinary research field involving academic researchers in information
technologies, computer science, public policy, bioinformatics, medical informatics, and social
and behavior studies, etc. The techniques studied include (but are not limited to): data
visualization, data pre-processing, data engineering, database mining techniques, tools and
applications, evolutionary algorithms, machine learning, neural nets, fuzzy logic, statistical
pattern recognition, knowledge filtering, and post-processing, etc.
The goal of IDAM 2014 is to gather people from previously disparate communities to provide
a stimulating forum for exchange of ideas and results. We invite academic researchers (in
information technologies, computer science, business and organizational studies, social
studies), as well as information technology companies, industry consultants and practitioners
in the fields involved. IDAM 2014 will be held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
Call for Papers:

We invite two types of submissions: Full Papers and Short Position Papers. A Full Paper
should provide solid conceptual and theoretical foundation and substantial support for its
results and conclusions as a significant contribution to the field. A Position Paper is not
expected to be theoretically or empirically thorough, but represents an earlier stage of work.
Exceptional quality papers will also be invited for further extension, and be considered for
publication on journals.
Submitted papers must not substantially overlap with papers that have been published or
that are simultaneously submitted to a journal, conference, or workshop with proceedings.
All submissions will be thoroughly peer-reviewed by multiple reviewers to ensure quality and
unbiased comments. Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings to be
published by ACM.
Paper Submissions:
Papers must be submitted electronically in PDF through the conference website. Format
requirements for submissions of papers are:
2
- Full paper: Maximum 6 pages, plus max 2 paid pages
- Short paper: Maximum 4 pages
- All submissions should be formatted according to ACM guidelines
(http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates)
- Submissions must be entered into the Submission System
