RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Classification of Noidoids (UMass REU)
Summer 2014
UMass Amherst
Dr. F. Pedit
Worked to define a map from the set of nodoids (non-injective, two-ended surfaces of constant mean
curvature) to subsets of the 2-sphere analogous to the function from the planar n-ended unduloidal
surfaces to spherical n-gons provided by Grosse-Brauckmann, Kusner and Sullivan.
Combinatorics and Knot Theory (LSU REU)
Summer 2013
Louisiana State University
Dr. N. Stoltzfus
Performed research in combinatorics and knot theory through the NSF-supported LSU REU program.
Proved various properties of polytopes induced by ribbon graphs, including the non-existence of invariants of the sub-tree polytope of a knot diagram under unrestricted Reidemeister moves on the diagram.
Mathematical Modeling in Ecological Economics
Summer 2012
Buffalo State College
Dr. J. Carbonara
Collaborated with an ecological protection non-profit, the Buffalo-Niagara River Keepers, in the budding
field of Ecological Economics; produced a set of equations returning the monetary value of services
provided by wetlands in the Buffalo-Niagara watershed region. Modeled various wetland processes and
determined appropriate metrics for pricing.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Mathematical Logic, Geometry/Topology
