Tech Math Classroom Policies
WHAT IF I’M ABSENT?
If you are absent for any reason, it is your
responsibility to find out what you missed!
What if I need to leave
class?
Each term you will get an
Emergency Pass that you
can use up to 4 times.
Leftover passes can be
redeemed for treats/
prizes. If you lose your
pass or use them up
then you must stay in
class.
Supplies to bring to
class EVERY DAY!
 Pencils, pens, highlighters
What to Expect in Class
Plan on working with
other people who may
or may not be your
friends. When you are
in a group, make sure
you include all group
members, and make
sure everyone is doing
their fair share of
work.
Plan on being
“stuck.” Math is
about solving problems. If you always know a solution right away,
then you never
really had a problem to start with!
 Scientific Calculator (not
the one on your phone!)
 Notebook or Loose leaf
paper
 Dry erase markers
Technical Math 1B
1. Convert units of measure.
2. Compute angle measures, length of sides, perimeter, and area of plane geometric figures.
3. Calculate surface area, volume, and weight/ mass.
4. Solve right triangles.
5. Solve oblique triangles.
6. Relate trigonometric functions to the unit circle.
You have the right to a classroom in which you
can learn to the best of your ability and the
responsibility to conduct yourself in a way that
contributes to the success of your learning
experience.
You are expected to follow all rules outlined in
your student handbook. In general, this means
you need to:
 Ear buds
1. Be respectful.
2. Be responsible.
3. Be safe.

These infractions are progressive and cumulative. Depending on the severity of the infraction, Step 4 may be initiated first. Behaviors that endanger your health or safety or that of other students will not be tolerated
and will result in Step 4 immediately.

Course Description
Grading
This course is a dual credit course. If you pass this
course with a grade of a “C” or better, you will not
only earn high school credit, but you will also earn 5
credits from Moraine Park Technical College. We
will use the exact same curriculum as MPTC. It is
important to understand that this is a college course
and is not designed to be easier than other courses,
but rather to be more practical for students who
plan on going to technical college.
Your final grade will be determined by averaging all of your UNIT/CHAPTER TEST scores together. However, in order to pass the course, each test must be successfully completed with
a minimum score of 79%.
Procedures
1. You will be given an Assignments and Test Guide for the
course. It lists the chapters and page numbers of the
material for which you are responsible.
2. Work through each section and review by completing the
Self-Test at the end of that section. Additional review is
provided by Supplementary Problems at the end of each
chapter. All problems on the Self-Test are available to
view on Moodle.
3. You will need to complete Assignment Tests (worksheets)
for each unit/chapter. These tests are corrected and
should be used as a review tool before taking the
Unit/Chapter Test.
4. After each unit is completed you must take a
Unit/Chapter Test. The Unit/Chapter Tests are the sole
means of determining your grade.
5. The scoring of Unit/Chapter Tests is on a percent basis.
If you score on a Unit/Chapter Test is less than 80% you
must take a Unit/Chapter Re-Test. The maximum score
on a Unit/Chapter Re-Test is 80%.
A letter grade at WAJSHS and a separate grade at MPTC will then be assigned according to
the following scales.

Reassessment
Students will have the
opportunity to reassess
for full credit on the Waupun grading scale if they
show evidence of completing most of the formative*
and corrective work prior
to the unit test. The maximum score for a reassessment from MPTC is an
80%. Reassessment for
full credit must be done
within one week of the
unit test.
Students who do not pass
a unit test with a 79% or
better will have to reassess. Failure to do so for
all units before the end of
the term will result in not
passing the course.
*formative work will include Self-Tests, Supplementary Problems, Assignment Tests, and Unit Reviews.
Students who did not
pass the unit test and
have not completed the
formative work will need
to complete all the formative work and make test
corrections prior to reassessment.
Formative work is the
work you do while you are
learning something new
and it helps you learn and
remember new things.
It also helps your teachers
know how best to help
you!
Incompletes
Students with extenuating circumstances may be given an Incomplete, and the procedure outlined in the Grading Practices
Handbook will be followed. Students and parents will be notified verbally or by email of an incomplete.
