Mrs. Davis’ English Class Activities and Assignments— Weeks 23 & 24 (January 28-February 83, 2013) Class Activities & Assignments for English IV-A (Pds. 1, 2, & 3): January 28, 2013: Students read biographical information about William Blake, read four Blake poems, and began viewing a biographical video. January 29, 2013: Students read biographical information about William Wordsworth, read three Wordsworth poems, and began viewing a biographical video while completing reading comprehension and analysis work over the poems. January 30, 2013: Students read biographical information about Samuel Taylor Coleridge, read "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," and a non-fiction article about Coleridge's landscape. January 31, 2013: Students read biographical information about Percy Bysshe Shelley, read three Shelley poems, and began viewing a biographical video while completing reading comprehension and analysis work over the poems. February 1, 2013: Students read biographical information about John Keats, read three Keats poems, and began viewing a biographical video while completing reading comprehension and analysis work over the poems. February 4, 2013: Students completed their mid-year STAR Reading assessments, then began reviewing the story of Prometheus in order to understand Mary Shelley's allusion to it in Frankenstein. February 5, 2013: Students read the Author's Introduction, Preface, and Letters 1-3 of Frankenstein. Students received a worksheet that they were to complete as they read. After Letter 4, it needs to be finished. February 6, 2013: Students read the fourth letter of Frankenstein and reviewed responses on their worksheets from Monday and Tuesday. February 7, 2013: Students finished the fourth letter and began reading early chapters of Frankenstein. February 8, 2013: Students continued reading early chapters of Frankenstein. Some classes met for shorter time due to the Homecoming pep rally. Class Activities & Assignments for APE Lit. (Pds. 4, 6, & 7): January 28, 2013: Students completed a Frankenstein multiple-choice practice as bell work, and then reviewed the answers. Students then viewed the 1831 introduction to the novel. As homework, students are to complete SPLOTTS notes and read Chapters I-IV of Frankenstein. January 29, 2013: Students completed the weekly SPLOTTS quiz, received a Frankenstein reading schedule as well as new SPLOTTS notes pages and poem assignment, and continued reading in Frankenstein. January 30, 2013: Students completed practice multiple-choice analysis questions over the previous reading assignment, then continued reading in Frankenstein. January 31, 2013: Students completed another round of multiple-choice analysis questions over the prior evening's reading of Frankenstein, then continued reading according to the assigned reading schedule. February 1, 2013: Students completed official AP multiple-choice practice, then picked up several rounds of multiple-choice analysis questions for the weekend reading assignment of Frankenstein. February 4, 2013: Students completed their mid-year STAR Reading assessments, then reviewed the story of Prometheus, and discussed how it is a relevant allusion in Frankenstein. February 5, 2013: Students had the class period to catch up and continue their reading of Frankenstein. Students received more multiple-choice analysis practice. February 6, 2013: Students completed SPLOTTS quizzes (and fourth period took a reading quiz), then reviewed answers to multiple-choice practice questions. Students are to read Chapters 22-23 of Frankenstein tonight. February 7, 2013: Students continued reviewing multiple-choice practice over Frankenstein, as well as official AP Exam multiple-choice practice. Students are to finish their reading of Frankenstein as homework. February 8, 2013: Students completed another round of AP Exam multiple-choice practice, reviewed prior multiple-choice practice, and briefly discussed the objective test over Frankenstei nthat will take place on Monday.
