Final Assessment: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein English 12 Honors – Ms. Lomauro For your summative assessment on Frankenstein, you will choose one of the following project options. Each project will be evaluated according to how thoroughly you explain the psychological and emotional experience of the characters through the method of your choosing. These projects will be presented to the class. Project Options: Option #1 – Music Composition Create an original song that conveys the psychological and/or emotional experience of Frankenstein and/or the Creature. Ground the lyrics and overall tone of the song in the information from the text. Option #2 – Create a Soundtrack Imagine that you are the music producer working on a film version of Frankenstein set to release in 2013. Choose 8-10 songs that you would include as part of the movie’s soundtrack. This list will be annotated; in other words, you will write a paragraph for each song explaining what part of the story is reflected in the lyrics and why. Option #3- Insert a Chapter Create a short chapter that could be added anywhere in the novel. It is up to you to decide which of the three layers of the story you’d like to work with. Your chapter should be original and creative, but still ring true with the story overall. Length: 3-4 pages, double spaced. Option #4 – Artistic Interpretation Choose an ancillary character (William, Father, Clerval, Elizabeth, Justine, etc.) and create a piece of art that represents their experience throughout the novel. Your art work should be accompanied by a 2-3 paragraph explanation of the thought-process behind the creation of the piece. Presentation/Project Due Date: ___________________________________________
