THANK YOU for choosing to
Support the Duck to Stop Cancer
This manual contains everything your team needs to start FUNdraising!
We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, 1 in 2 Australian men and 1 in 3 Australian
women will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85 – truly devastating statistics. The PA Research
Foundation aims to reduce these statistics through the Support the Duck Stop Cancer campaign.
Thanks to medical research over the past decades, many cancers are now treatable, and there are
more diagnostic tools available to prevent otherwise deadly cancers, so many patients can now live
long and healthy lives. However there is still a long way to go on our mission to stop cancer - but,
together with your support we can continue to raise funds for our dedicated medical research teams.
Y ou can be a part of the next cancer breakthrough by Supporting the Duck. It might just save the life
of someone you know and love.

Your Team’s
Fundraising Plan
To help get your team get waddling
and raise your minimum race entry
goal of $1000 here are some easy
steps to follow!
Set a clear and ambitious fundraising
goal. The easiest way to achieve your
goal is to break it down into smaller
totals.
Teams need to fundraise $1,000
to qualify. To make your target
achievable try breaking it down into
smaller goals.
For example from a team of ten, each
person only needs to raise $100! Or if
your are trying to reach $2,000 its only
$200 per person.
A very fast looking Motorised Team Challenge duck!
Be realistic and keep it simple in choosing your fundraising events. Pick ones that you will enjoy organising
and use your own interests
Make a plan. Give the team plenty of time to get organised and work out what kind of budget and things
you’ll need for your activities.
Promote. Tell anyone you can think of about your fundraising activities. Share your activities online and
throughout your community.
Enjoy your activity. Have fun! You’ve all put a lot of effort into organising your activity so this is the part
where you see all your hard work come together.
Collect your funds. Make sure you bank all your funds collected. Let supporters know that donations over
$2 are tax de-DUCK-tible.
Thank Everyone. Make sure at the end of your fundraising you thank everyone who supported or donated
to you. Something simple like a short email will do and make them feel appreciated.
When you reach your fundraising target then Congratulations! But don’t stop there... every cent that you
raise goes towards life saving cancer research.

Your Race Duck - Ducking it out
When is comes to getting your duck race ready, the river is the limit! You can either go all out by adding a
motor, jet engines, wings and propellers or get your duck glammed up and watch it glide along. To make
sure your duck is the quack of the town here are a few tips on ducking out your duck.
Dress your duck up, paint it, pluck it, stuff it and fluff it up however you like.
Make sure it’s water proof so it can’t leak and sink and that it’s balanced.
Give your duck a test run at your local pool or pond to see how it floats and it’s not too heavy.
Guidelines
Now comes the fun part - you get to enter your giant rubber race duck in the Motorised or NonMotorised race. You MUST use the race duck supplied, not any other duck.
MOTORISED - Category A – Remote Power, Category B – Human Power
A duck is classified as Motorised if it has any form of external power attached to it. It cannot be a
combination of Category A and B e.g Duck attached to a jetski.
• Category A – Remote Power: any Duck that has a motor attached and/or uses a remote control.
• Category B – Human Power: any Duck that requires a person to physically move it.
Motorised Race Rules - Motorised Ducks will race along a 100m straight stretch in time trials. The top 5
fastest Ducks will go through to the final with the winning duck the first one across the line. Teams will have
the option to test their ducks on the water during the day.
NON-MOTORISED - A duck is classified as Non-Motorised when it has no extra power attached. All NonMotorised ducks are eligible to win the Best Dressed Duck Prize
Non-Motorised Race Rules - Non-Motorised Ducks will race in a long inflatable pool in the team area. The
first duck to wade across the finish line wins.
