The semiannual Service Awards reception for the second half of 2015 was held on February 17,
2016, at the Henrico County Training Center, where 317 employees were acknowledged for their
years of service. The breakdown of the number of employees recognized by years of service
was: 48 employees with five years of service, 57 employees with ten years, 83 employees with
15 years, 57 employees with 20 years, 33 employees with 25 years, 19 employees with 30
years, 18 employees with 35 years, one employee with 40 years, and one employee with 45
years of service.
The Service Award ceremonies are also noted for memorable moments to honor those that have
previously served, are currently serving, or have a special status with serving the communities
in the County of Henrico. The third Elvin R. Cosby Award was presented to Virginia Haden,
Crossing Guard in the Police Division, for her 45 years of service, first hired on September 2,
1970. There were special guest appearances by former County Manager Mr. William LaVecchia
and Mr. Elvin Cosby, the longesttenured current employee of the County.
Special thanks to those employees who volunteered at the event and to all employees who have
provided outstanding leadership and customer service to the citizens of Henrico County and their
coworkers in all positions they have held at the County. To see a complete listing of all those
that received an award, click here.

Raise a Cheer with Team Henrico's Spirit Team
by Liz Stovall
We have an exciting destination on the
County’s HealthTrip coming up in April,
and there is something for everyone on
this trip! If you are not running/walking
in the Monument Avenue 10K this year,
put on your best red, white, and blue,
and cheer for our Team Henrico runners
on Saturday, April 9. The County is
having a Spirit Team of coworkers,
family, and friends, who will have a
reserved cheer section located on the
race course. The Spirit Team location
will be tented (in case of rain) and
promises great views of the race course
and race participants. This year’s Spirit
Team theme is American Pride. Don
your best, worst, funniest, patriotic,
red/white/blue garb and join in the fun.
We want the biggest and loudest cheer
section on Monument Avenue, so save
the date and spread the word!
Team Henrico employees celebrating their finish in the 2013 Monument Avenue 10K
This local race, named one of the best race events in the country by USA Today, is Richmond’s
premiere block party. You’re guaranteed to be entertained by world class runners, costumes, live
music, and the beautiful spring foliage along Monument Avenue, the only street in America listed
on the National Register of Historic Places.
Event day flags, pompoms, noise makers, and snacks will
be provided by the Fitness & Wellness Division. Please
consider joining us for Poster Parties on Mondays, March
28 and April 4 at 5 PM; and Wednesdays, March 30 and
April 6 at Noon at the Henrico County Training Center.
Posters, paints, and markers will be provided for Spirit
Team members who wish to make a poster to display on
race day. To register for the Spirit Team and/or Poster
Parties, contact Kelsey Ryder, Fitness & Wellness Intern,
at ryd001@henrico.us.
What is Team Henrico? Team Henrico consists of County employees on the HealthTrip who
enjoy being active while getting to know other Henrico County employees. All running, jogging,
and walking abilities are welcome to join the team. This year the County is participating in three
local races—the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K (April), the Connects Federal Credit Union
Corporate 4miler (June), and Nutyz’s Rotary Funn Run 5K (December). If you are interested
taking a HealthTrip to your own better health, join Team Henrico by contactting the Fitness &
Wellness Division at 5017559.
