Also, a state professional license to include licensed psychologist, licensed master or independent social worker, and licensed professional counselor. An LPC or LMSW license is required. Assessment will include mental status examination, assessment for suicidal/homicidal ideation, stage of emotional, behavioral, educational development, and assessment of the family system. The counselor must be able to complete a treatment plan and seek appropriate service connection. The counselor must also keep a progress record on all student/family contacts. The counselor must be able to relate clinical information to other mental health professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors. The counselor must be able to relate appropriate information to school administrators, guidance counselors, and teachers in the best interest of the student and family.
