The Kelowna Community Gospel Choir was originally formed in 2012 with
twelve members, but has grown to over 40 members this year with its new
director, Peter DeRoche, and accompanist, Shelly Burger.
This is a semi auditioned choir that sings gospel and sacred music.
The choir performs in a variety of venues and presents two main public
concerts each year. Admission is always by donation and money raised is
then given to a local charity organization.
If you are interested in joining this group please contact Dale Luksts, the choir
manager, at: kelownacommunitygospelchoir@live.com

2014, where there was exposure to wonderful choral groups from North
America and around the world, was the inspiration to take on challenging
music and to perform with love, enthusiasm and precision.
Musical director, Tracy Stuchbery, has been steadily building the choir’s
capacity to sing expressively and has complemented that effort with her
uncanny ability to select repertoire which challenges the choir and pleases
their audiences. As the group has changed over time, they have been
fortunate to attract singers from South Okanagan communities from Oliver to
Kelowna who, without fail, bring great energy and voice.
In the most recent concerts in December, Musaic performed with guest artists
Mike Treadway, percussion, and student Elise Wiesinger, violin, who
accompanied the choir and played their own pieces; this variety was well
received by everyone.
Musaic’s Spring 2016 concerts ‘Roses I send to You’ will be performed April
23, 24 and 30 in Penticton, Summerland, and Kelowna featuring guest Tenor
Kaden Forsberg. Following the spring concert, Musaic will record a number of
pieces for a compact disc which will be used as a fund raiser for the new tower
of the Penticton Regional Hospital.

After singing at Cottonwoods this Christmas and really experiencing one of the most vulnerable and needy parts of
the community, the KCMS Choir have decided to make it a priority to “reach out” each season. This Spring they are
in the process of finalizing a concert at KGH for a date in early June.

There are two choral ensembles at Rutland SS. The Senior Concert Choir is comprised of grade 10-12 students which
meets twice a week at 7:30am. There is also an auditioned female chamber choir – ‘Take Note’, that recently
performed the national anthem on the ice at a Kelowna Rockets game. The choirs perform concerts and special
events throughout the year including the outdoor Rutland Christmas Tree Light up event, the December and June
school concerts, and a huge competition in Whistler, BC coming up in April. Current repertoire includes The Seal
Lullaby, Dirait-on, Away from The Roll of the Sea, and an arrangement by the new Rutland SS School Music Director,
Spencer Bach, of One More Beautiful Song from the musical ‘A Class Act’.
