Themes include.. The Chronology of African American Music, Literacy, Be a Friend, Appreciate Who You Are, and Respect Others Who Are Different. I Work closely with all students and staff for 15 days. I develop various core groups including.. strings, dance, percussion and singing. We discuss musicality and life skills. We prepare for a culminating concert to be held in a large venue. A recording of all singers is produced. The art teacher assists students with designing CD cover and programs. This is a full scale project that promotes leadership, discipline, appreciation and talent. Students come away with an understanding of what it takes to have an adjusted attitude to accomplish a set goal. Performed concerts for 20 years involving thousands of students. Many have gone on to be singers and performers. Currently the Music Director of Mt. Zion Baptist Church (35 years). Oversee 7 music entities of the church. Lead musician.
