STEP BY STEP TO GRADUATION
Please note that receipt of this letter is not verification that your son or daughter is
graduating. This must be verified with their school counsellor.
This letter is intended to give you crucial information about the ticket sales and reservation process for
graduation. There will be a mandatory Grad Assembly on April 10th at 11:35 am which will further clarify
the information in this letter. Starting Monday April 13 thru Friday April 17, at 12:10 pm only in Room
1264 (the IE Seminar Room), your child will have 5 school days to buy and reserve their Grad Dinner and
Dance (Prom) tickets. This process will involve a one-stop shop for ALL graduation events!! A series of
stations will be set up, and your child, and only your child, will be required to go through the stations.
Station 1: Students check the Grade 12 class list to see if they are graduating. If their name is not on the
list, they must immediately check with a counsellor. They will not be able to participate in the grad
ceremonies if they are not graduating and therefore cannot continue to the next station.
Station 2: Please clear up any outstanding fees with Ms. Tateyama in the main office before checking in
at Station 2. Outstanding fees will prevent your student from continuing through further stations.
Students must have paid all school fees including graduation fees ($100 which goes towards paying all
associated expenses for the Commencement Ceremonies and other Grad related activities), outstanding
school fees, athletic fees including jerseys and equipment, textbooks, and library fees. These must be
paid before a dinner/dance ticket can be purchased.
Station 3: Sign up for grad gowns by going to the Grad section of the RSS website. If your student has
not already done so, that can be completed at this station. Students must sign up for a grad gown in
order to attend the Commencement Ceremonies.
Station 4:
1: Purchase up to 3 Prom tickets (price to be finalized shortly but will be in the $65 range)
 Please make cheques payable to RSS
 If you must post-date your cheque, it must be post-dated no later than May 1
 Do not combine dry grad and prom ticket payments on the same cheque. They are separate
events.
2: Reserve up to 2 extra tickets. If available they can be purchased April 27th to May6th
 Extra tickets will be sold in the order they are reserved. It is important that tickets be reserved
early.
 Wait list for tickets will be prioritized by the following criteria:
a) Order reserved (first come basis)
b) Attendance record at school
c) Record of behavior at school
Table Selection: Tables seat a maximum of ten people, so students who wish to be seated together
should reserve together! If you have a table of 10, please see Ms. Rhodes or Mr. Gunn for the Full Table
Form. Extra tickets can be purchased (if available) and seating reservations made from April 27 to May 6
in Room 1264.
Dry Grad: Tickets ($20.00 each) will be available in Room 1264, April 27 thru May 6 and June 8 thru
June 11. These tickets are for graduating students only. Don’t forget to check the GRAD CALENDAR on
display in the Forum.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Distribution of Commencement Ceremony tickets and Grad Gowns, which are both free (after all Grad
fees are paid), will take place Monday June 8 thru June 11 in Room 1264 (IE Seminar room). Tickets will
be distributed during these four days only. Each student will be entitled to up to 4 tickets. Please note
that Grads do not need a ticket.
Commencement Ceremonies will take place at Trinity Baptist Church on Springfield Road on Friday, June
12th at 7:00 pm. A mandatory rehearsal will take place at 1:00 pm for all students. Grade 12 students
must be at RSS no later than 5:30 pm to board buses to the Ceremonies.
Dry Grad is at Rutland Senior Secondary School, starting an hour after the ceremonies are over. Students
attending Dry Grad must ride the bus back to RSS or they will not be admitted to Dry Grad.
The Grad Dinner and Prom Dance are at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre on
Monday, May 18th. Grads must meet at the Dolphins no later than 5:45 pm for the group photo at 6 pm,
with the Grand March commencing at 6:15 pm. Dinner will be served at 7 pm with the dance ending at
11 pm.
Did your child receive extra help during Provincial exams? All students who received adjudication
support should ask for a copy of the documentation from their student files in the office. This
documentation should ensure that they will receive the same support at post-secondary institutions. If
they have any questions about this, have them see Ms. Janot or Ms. Lewis-Watts in Room 1249.
