Students will be asked to respond to four out of six statements with two separate paragraphs labeled “for” and “against”. o The first paragraph will summarize the best evidence that you can give FOR, or in support of, the statement. o The second paragraph will summarize the best evidence that you can give AGAINST the statement. Students must include only accurate evidence (e.g., other examples used by companies, personal experiences, examples discussed in the class, etc.) without exaggerating the facts. Students must explain how the evidence they present supports or undermines the statement. Students must be as detailed as possible, including approximately 3 separate points for each statement, with as much balance between the two sides as the statement permits. Students must use proper grammar. If a student responds to (answers) more than four statements, the instructor will only evaluate the first four responses for credit. Each response is worth a possible 25 marks for 100 marks total. Exam Topics How can technology be a source of competitive advantage? What are examples of emergent/new technologies that can facilitate competitive advantage? What are the ethical, social, and information security issues related to information systems today? Exam Advice Students must come prepared with several examples of organizations that have benefitted or experienced challenges using information systems. The instructor expects students to cite examples from some of the numerous cases covered in the course textbook.
