This brochure is intended as a general guide to help you get started. For more information, contact the Admissions Office at the institution you’re interested in. As well as the transfer opportunities listed in this brochure, you’ll find that most institutions consider additional admission and credit transfer applications to programs based on their general transfer policies. The amount of credit will vary depending on the institution, the program and your marks. For more details, visit the websites of the institutions you’re interested in and search for “transfer student” policies. Additional resources are available at ONTransfer.ca. Sheridan students and alumni may also consult with a Career Counsellor in Sheridan’s Career Centre for further guidance. ELIGIBILITY FOR A DEGREE PROGRAM If you complete one year of study at Sheridan, you may be considered for admission to Year 1 of a degree program at most institutions, even if you don’t have the required degree entrance requirements from high school; however, some programs have additional prerequisites that you’ll be responsible for successfully completing. You must meet the institution’s minimum grade requirement to be considered, and in many cases may need to exceed that requirement for admission. Supporting documents such as portfolios, résumés and letters of reference may also be required. CONTINUING YOUR EDUCATION Our Pathways initiative allows you to build on your existing credentials and experience, and makes it easier to get credit for what you know. In addition to a number of exciting pathways between its own programs, Sheridan has transfer agreements with universities and colleges around the world. If you decide to continue your studies at another college or university, you may be able to transfer some of your Sheridan credits. A Sheridan diploma may also lead to admission into a degree program. For more information, visit pathways.sheridancollege.ca or visit ONTransfer.ca for a guide to credit transfers between Ontario colleges and universities. 2 ARE YOU COMING TO SHERIDAN FROM ANOTHER COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY? Once you’ve been accepted to Sheridan and paid your fees, you can access our online pathway services to see what previous learning credits may be applied to your current program of study. Visit mypathways.sheridancollege.ca for more information. TRANSFERRING CREDITS NEED HELP WITH YOUR EDUCATIONAL PLAN? Institutions typically grant transfer credit based on the following: Prospective students: We offer workshops and one-on-one sessions to help you explore your career options and find the program that’s right for you. Find out more at careeradvising.sheridancollege.ca • The compatibility of your diploma studies with the program you wish to enter. • Your overall academic average at Sheridan and, in some cases, your individual course marks. Students usually need to complete more than one year of study at Sheridan to be eligible for transfer credit(s). Some institutions grant “block transfer credit” based on the length of your Sheridan studies. Other institutions assess transfer credit on a course-by-course basis (advanced standing). It’s important that you check with the Admissions Office at the institution you wish to attend. Current Sheridan students: Our Career Centre has Career Counsellors plus online resources to help you explore career options and map out a plan for further education. Find out more at careercentre.sheridancollege.ca HOW TO APPLY • To Sheridan: complete an online application at ontariocolleges.ca • To an Ontario university: complete an online application at ouac.on.ca/105 •To a college or university outside Ontario: contact the institution directly. 3 Transfer Agreements within Sheridan Sheridan provides opportunities for eligible students to complete degrees. Depending on the degree and the student’s entrance qualifications, the student will either apply to: •Register in a semester of courses prior to beginning in an advanced level of the degree or •Register directly into the advanced level of the degree, with additional courses that could be completed concurrently while in the degree program Note: Some programs require both the semester of courses to be taken prior to starting the degree, as well as having some additional courses that can be completed concurrently with the degree program. 4 DIPLOMA PROGRAM POINT OF ENTRY INTO DEGREE COURSES TO COMPLETE** OR BLOCK TRANSFERS* SHERIDAN FOUR-YEAR DEGREE PROGRAM Animation (3 year) 4 Semesters + 3 Courses + Co-op term 13 courses, 6 breadth, 14 weeks co-op plus 3 bridge courses Bachelor of Animation Business -
