Paper‐20%ofyourgrade Youwillwritea3to5pagepaperinwhichyouselectawell‐knownfigureanddevelopananalysisof theirlifefromtheperspectiveofoneschoolofpersonalitytheory.Ifyouwouldlike,youmaywriteyour ownautobiographyandanalyzeitinthesameway.Inthepast,manystudentshavefoundthe autobiographytobeaninterestingandthoughtprovokingassignment,soIencourageyoutowriteabout yourownlife.Thegoaloftheassignmentistoapplytheworkofonepersonalitytheorist,orgroupof theorists,todevelopanunderstandingofoneindividual’slifestory.Guidelinesforthepaperwillbe provided. JournalEntries‐15%ofyourgrade Studentswillcreate6journalentries(1‐2pageseach,double‐spaced)reflectingonthereadingandclass materialaswellaspersonalmaterialbroughttolightbythecourse.Thesejournalsareaforumforyouto applythecoursematerialtoyourpersonalexperienceandbegintograpplewithwhatyoubelieveabout humannature.Asjournalswillincludepersonalmaterial,theywillnotbegradedexactly.Instead, journalswillbemarkedwithacheckminusifdonepoorly,doesnotreflectthereading,orhaveinsights (2points),ifturnedinandisabouttherelevantchapter(3points),andacheck‐plusifdiscussionofthe Updated 1/28/13 materialandpersonalinsightsisdoneespeciallywell(3.5points).Ifajournalisturnedinlate,normally half‐creditisgiven(1.5points).PleasenotethatIwillnotfollowuponthereflectionstogiveyouprivacy tosharewithoutfeelingthatyouhavetodiscussfurther.JournalEntriesareworth30points.
