Anti-Bullying Public Announcement Pacing Guide Note: Each Technology Education Class Time is a 40 minute block Unit or Topic Time Spent on Topic Materials Begin with an entry question to hook the students into discussing and questioning what is bullying. “Have you ever been bullied or witnessed someone else being bullied?” “What is Bullying” handout Introduce the essential questions and discuss the culminating performance tasks. Hand out the “What is Bullying” document to go over what bullying is and discuss with class their thoughts and viewpoints. Bullying Word Search Assessment o Wordle Assessment o Word Search Assessment 1 Class Period Assessment o Reflective Journal Rubric 15 minutes Assessment o Participation 1 Class Period Have students open up the “What is Bullying document to copy text into Wordle. Have students go to the Wordle website and paste the copied text Have students print out their Wordle document and have them use this to do the Bullying Word Search. Have students record their Wiki username located at the top of the Bullying Word Search. Ask the students if they have ever bullied anyone, bullied anyone, witnessed someone being bullied or have know someone that was bullied. Have students write their reflective piece in MS Word. Handout directions on how to access the class Wiki reminding the students that their access code is located on the top of their Bullying Word Search. Hand back the corrected Bullying Word Search Have students post their journal piece on the class wiki on the student’s individual page. Have class collaboratively create a Bullying survey for the school to take using Google Docs – having students type up questions individually. Print out questions and hand out to collaborative teams - have students work collaboratively on which 10 minutes questions should be used for the survey. Class will review questions selected by teams and compile survey for their grade level. 15 minutes Assessment o Bully Survey Group Task Rubric Assessment o Reflective Journal Rubric o Participation Assessment o Glogster Multimedia Presentation Rubric o Creativity Rubric o Collaboration Rubric (Sixth grade will create a sixth grade survey, 7th will create a seventh grade survey and 8th grade will create an eighth grade survey.) Students will view the grade level surveys that have been charted and discuss the findings. 10 minutes The class will discuss ways to prevent bullying. 15 minutes Students will write a reflective journal piece in MS Word on their thoughts on the results of the survey and post on the student’s individual page on the class Wiki. In their groups, students will collaboratively create an anti-bullying Glogster and post on the team’s page on the class Wiki.
