and article indexes/databases are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
THE BASICS
There are nine major libraries on campus, specializing in
different disciplines and serving different clientele. The

Reference and Information Desk staff are available in the Libraries to assist you. Computer Workstations for conducting
library research are available in all campus Libraries. Check out books and course reserve items at the Circulation Desks.
Wireless computer access is available in Library West, Marston Science and many other campus libraries. For complete

description of services available to you. To connect to licensed resources from off campus, select “Off campus access”
from the Libraries’ Home Page. Instant message librarians at screen name uflibrarian, chat or email for assistance.

Your Gator 1 card serves as your library card. Be sure to have it activated at a circulation desk, or by submitting an online
form. Your Gator 1 number is used for logging on to library computers, connecting from off-campus, renewing checked
out books, etc.
Classes and tutorials on using the library are available. Faculty interested in library instruction classes should contact the
Instruction Coordinator for Humanities and Social Sciences (273-2615) or Sciences and Engineering (273-2859) or their
subject specialist librarian.
Photocopying and Computer and Microform Printing are available at all Libraries, using copy cards (not cash). Reusable
copy cards may be purchased at vending machines in the Libraries with bills ($1 up to $20). Thirty-five cents of the initial
purchase price pays for the card. Additional value may be added at the dispenser. The Libraries do not make change.
Interlibrary Loan will help you obtain articles, books, and other materials not owned at UF. Submit requests electronically by selecting ILLiad at <http://illiad.uflib.ufl.edu/illiad/>. Pick up materials at the Library West circulation desk.
Special services are available for users with disabilities. Register at the Circulation Desk in Library West (273-2525) or
Health Science Center Library or Legal Information Center, and refer to the brochure “Services for Users with Disabilities” available in print or at <http://www.uflib.ufl.edu/ct/disab.html>.
