Government Information Resources Chelsea Dinsmore, International Documents Librarian, Joe Aufmuth, GIS Librarian Outline • Overview of UF’s Government Documents Department • Federal Government Information Resources • International Documents Resources UF Documents Department The United States Government operates on the established principle of the citizens’ right to know about its activities. The Government Printing Office (or GPO) exists to distribute government information to the public and does so through the Federal Depository Library program that includes 1,250 libraries. UF is a Regional Federal Depository Library and, provides access to all documents published through the GPO, as well as UF purchased databases. The Documents Department is also a European Union Depository Library and also has international documents such as the British Parliamentary Papers and United Nations Documents. UF Documents Website The Documents Department website contains hundreds of pathfinders to government information sources: www.uflib.ufl.edu/docs/ The Documents site is an excellent starting point for any research into local, state, federal, or international government.
