Human Resource Development Initiatives Our Message One of the key issues faced by the JX Group, which is pursuing a wide range of business opportunities in Japan and overseas, is securing the human resources that support its operations. Accordingly, the core operating companies are advancing initiatives to develop and leverage the human resources needed in their fields of business. As the JX Group rapidly expands its overseas business, it is paying particular attention to stepping up the development of the human resources that will support globalization. Taking steps to develop diverse human resources, including promoting career opportunities for female employees Initiatives of Group Companies • Safety training at the JX Safety Education Center Employee risk awareness is strengthened through the use of this center to simulate accidents that could occur at worksites. JX Safety Education Center • Training by grade Training by grade and training to develop core human resources are implemented. • Overseas training Employees are sent to study at overseas business schools and laboratories and strengthened foreign language training is offered, including for managers. Management System JX Nippon Oil & Energy Review and Strategies by Core Business JX Group • Development of the Group’s senior managers Candidates for future senior management positions are trained to handle management issues faced by the Group. • National staff training Group training for national staff managers employed at overseas offices is held at headquarters in Tokyo. • Promotion of career opportunities for female employees Seminars and round-table discussions are held to promote career opportunities for female employees. • International staff system National staff employed at overseas offices are provided opportunities to work at headquarters or other overseas offices for the purpose of promoting the development of their capabilities as well as making good use of and transferring their skills and know-how. • Training by grade Training by grade and training to develop core human resources are implemented. Financial Information JX Nippon Mining & Metals Missions of the JX Group: More than Just Growth JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration • Overseas training for young employees To enhance their capabilities through comprehensive training, young employees with a few years of experience at the company are dispatched to overseas offices and sites for a certain period of time. • Training system by type of job Training and job rotation plans are formulated and implemented by type of job with the objective of strengthening specialist capabilities appropriate for business professionals. • Overseas language training All management-track employees in their second year at the company as well as other employees in need of language training are sent abroad to study English or other foreign languages for one to three months.
