We would like to thank all the families for taking the me out of your busy schedules to meet with your child’s teacher prior to the first report card. This is an important investment that will help begin the year in the right direcon. Helotes Elementary Bulldog Bulletin November Principal Message A hear'elt thank you to our wonderful PTA Board and Bulldog Volunteers for making our Pawfest an enormous success. We were all impressed with the wonderful baskets that each class donated for our silent aucon. I really enjoyed seeing all the smiles and giggles from the students as they played the fun games and ate delicious Pawfest food. A special thanks to Suzanne Vaishnani, PTA Vice President of Fundraising, for her leadership, hard work, and dedicaon in conducng our annual PTA fundraiser. We would also like to recognize her awesome Pawfest commi-ee for their support, hard work, and enthusiasm. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, please know the Bulldog staff appreciates you so much. We are truly blessed and thankful to have such a supporve community. Candy Donation Hulme Orthodoncs would like to help our school earn up to $500 by collecng Halloween Candy from our students. We collect the candy and donate it to “Operaon Gratude” (www.operaongratude.com) where the candy will be sent to our military troops serving around the world. There will be a box in our foyer for the candy collecons. I am proud to say we collected $5,000 which exceeds our goal of $5,000.00 dollars. These funds will go toward the support of our instruconal programs and materials. I will be communicang with you specifically about how we will be spending the funds this year. We will start by providing the classroom teachers with a planning day each 9 week period. This day is highly producve in developing curriculum maps to guide instrucon throughout the school year. Rest assured all the funds will be spent for the 2013-2014 school year. In celebraon of meeng our goal, students have earned a chance to “slosh” the principal on Friday. Please keep me in your thoughts, as I am hoping for warm weather. We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Christy Jones, U.S. Army Acve Duty and parent of two Bulldog student will be our honorary speaker. In addion, Mr. Charles Kuentz, namesake of Kuentz Elementary and Helotes musician will play Taps. We invite all family members who a-end to wear their military uniforms. In addion, there will be a musical tribute by our students. If you a-end the assembly in the morning, please be prepared to sign into the office using a driver’s license or picture idenficaon. We hope to see you there! School A7endance~We really need your help! More and more parents are checking students out prior to the end of school. Please keep your child in school all day. We understand doctor’s appointments and emergencies, but we need them here in order to do our job. Academics don’t stop unl 2:40 pm, then it’s packing up me, wring in agendas, etc. We need kids here unl the end of the day. In addion, please understand tha safety is our first priority and changing the way your child goes home aer 2:15 pm is very difficult. If there’s a change in transportaon, 2:15 pm is the cutoff me to make that change. Our staff is dedicated to ensuring that all students are dismissed safely every day. Please help support our efforts by keeping changes to a minimum.
