Create your own ^candy
We have been reading the story Because of Winn Dixie.
We just met Franny Block, the librarian, a few chapters
ago. She told us about her grandfather, Litmus Block.
We learned that Litmus Block got into the candy making
industry after fighting in the Civil War. Although his
candy was good, for some reason, it made people feel
sad when they ate it. When Opal, the main character
and our new friend, ate the candy -she felt sorry for
the trouble that Litmus Block went through in the war.

plastic wrap, etc.)
Write a paragraph
explaining what your
candy looks like, tastes
like, and how it would
make people feel when
they eat it. (pretend!)
