COMMON CLEP & DSST EXAMS for CCAF CREDIT SPEECH PRIN OF PUBLIC SPEAKING 1. INFORM YOUR SUPERVISOR that you’d like to begin classes next semester and get their support. 2. BEGIN GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES by visiting a college of your choice. Accreditation is an important consideration when choosing a school. Make sure the school you choose has acceptable accreditation for CCAF standards. If you are not sure, please check with the Education Office. 3. SET UP YOUR AFVEC ACCOUNT by logging on to the AF Portal at www.my.af.mil/afvecprod/. Once your account is set up, you can view your CCAF Progress Report, link to CLEP/DANTES study guides, view your enrollments and CLEP/DANTES test results, obtain information on Commissioning programs, PME, and GI Bill, apply for tuition assistance (TA), and more. 4. IF YOU ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING YOUR CCAF DEGREE PROGRESS REPORT, you may stop by the Education Office to discuss your CCAF degree plan with an Education Counselor. Be sure to bring in a copy of your CCAF Progress Report to review with your counselor. 5. TO RECEIVE TUITION ASSISTANCE (TA), apply on-line at AFVEC by following these instructions: Log on to AFVEC through the AF Portal as previously instructed Verify and update all personal info (phone, email, etc.) Verify that your servicing Education Office is correct Enter supervisor’s name/email/phone number for TA approval Under Self-Service Apps, select “Apply for TA” and follow the step-bystep procedure. You will need the following information to do so: - COURSE NAME (e.g., MATH 101) - NUMBER OF SEMESTER HOURS - STARTING & ENDING DATES FOR THE COURSE - TUITION COSTS - LOCATION OF THE COURSE (i.e., ON-BASE, OFF-BASE, or DISTANCE LEARNING). Once your application is submitted, your TA will route to your supervisor and then to the Education Office. You will receive an email letting you know the status of your application. Once approved, you will log on to AFVEC, click on the “My Enrollments” link under Self-Service Apps and print out your form. You will fax, mail, or email the TA form to your school. This is your responsibility, not the Education Office’s. TA must be approved prior to term start date—-must submit TA at least 7 days prior to term start date 6. TA WILL PAY 100% OF TUITION COSTS AND LIMITED FEES up to a maximum of $250 per semester hour (or 166.66 per quarter hour). TA is capped at $4500 per FY (renews every Oct. 1). If your tuition costs exceed this amount, you may qualify for the Veteran’s Affairs’ (VA) “Top Up” program, which covers tuition expenses that exceed your TA cap. “Top Up” requires that you fill out a VA Form 22-1990, which is available online through the VA website. You must also fax your approved TA form to the VA at 1-918-781-7863.
