Compiled by Mrs. Whipple and reviewed K. Carr, SCCC Testing Center

Revised 5/28/15

About CLEP Save Time. Save Money. Take CLEP.

The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) gives you the opportunity to receive college credit for what you already know by earning qualifying scores on any of 33 examinations. Earn credit for knowledge you've acquired through independent study, prior course work, on-the-job training, professional development, cultural pursuits, or internships.

(see clep.collegeboard.org

for more information.)

Several of our NHS graduates and members of the senior class have taken the tests at SCCC and received college credits for what they already know.

After visiting the CollegeBoard website and determining what test(s) you would like to take, you can follow these steps:

1.

Find out if the college you are attending will accept CLEP credits, what score is required, and how many credits can be obtained.

Check the college’s website or call before signing up for tests.

2.

Visit http://sussex.edu/academics/testing/clep/ for a link to the

SCCC testing schedule. Exams are scheduled three to five times a month except during January. Go directly to clep.collegeboard.org to purchase the exam and forward the ticket to kcarr@sussex.edu with the date you wish to test .

You can also fax it to her at 973-300-2373 .

Call Kathleen Carr, testing coordinator at SCCC (973) 300-2155 or email her at kcarr@sussex.edu

with questions. The cost is ($80. per test plus

$20.00 increasing to $30.00 on July 1, 2015.) Prepare for the tests by visiting clep.collegeboard.org

where you can download a sampler so that you can see the test format.

3.

To prepare for the test, go the Sussex County Library’s web page www.sussexcountylibrary.org

, click on databases, choose

Learning Express, and CLEP preparation to take practice tests in math, English composition, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences and history. See back of this sheet for registration instructions and other test prep options.

4.

Tests are given on a computer in the SCCC testing center and scores are given immediately upon completion. Some tests with essay prompts may require you to return for a second session.

5.

Be sure to adjust your college schedule so that you do not take courses for which you have already received credit or AP credit.
