JOINT NUS/NTU PRESS RELEASE
8 December 2004
TUITION FEES FOR UNIVERSITY COURSES FOR AY2005
1.
Undergraduate fees have not been changed since AY2001, although universities’
costs have increased.
2.
To partially meet the increase in costs, NUS and NTU will be increasing tuition
fees for undergraduate courses by 5% in AY2005, to $5,930 for laboratory and nonlaboratory based courses and $17,010 for medical courses.
3.
The annual tuition fees for subsidised postgraduate courses at both NUS and
NTU will also increase in AY2005. Fees for research-based postgraduate laboratory
and non-laboratory based courses will increase by $500; for research-based
postgraduate medical courses by $1000; for coursework-based postgraduate laboratory
and non-laboratory based courses by $800; and for coursework-based postgraduate
medical courses by $1600.
4.
NUS and NTU will ensure that no student is denied the opportunity of university
education because of financial difficulties.
The universities will continue to make
available financial assistance schemes for students (see Annex).
