Darren is responsible for management and leadership of the Scotiabank Mid-Market Capital Advisors group (“MMCA”) with
a focus on advising business owners and management teams on both growth capital raises and liquidity options. He has
experience advising on corporate mergers and acquisitions, management-led buyouts, leveraged buyouts, financial
recapitalizations and succession planning transactions.
Prior to joining Scotiabank to found MMCA in 2010, Darren spent five years as a Partner with Solaris Capital Advisors Inc.
and eleven years with Orenda Corporate Finance Ltd. providing independent corporate finance advice to mid-market sized
companies.
Darren obtained an Honours BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and an MBA from the University of Toronto. Darren is a
Chartered Accountant and holds a Corporate Finance designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Ross is responsible for management and leadership of MMCA and dedicated to creating customized solutions to assist
business owners, shareholders and management teams to maximize value and to achieve personal and corporate goals.
Ross has over 22 years of experience in providing advisory services in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and raising
capital to facilitate management-led buyouts, financial recapitalizations and succession planning transactions. During this
time, Ross has lead transaction teams in executing a significant number of completed transactions in an exceptionally wide
range of industries.
Prior to joining MMCA, Ross was a Partner at two boutique investment banking firms – Solaris Capital Advisors Inc. and
Orenda Corporate Finance Ltd. Before joining Orenda in 1992, Ross was a Senior Manager in the Corporate Finance Group
of KPMG.
Ross graduated with an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and is a
Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Business Valuator. He holds a Corporate Finance designation from the Canadian
Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a former member of the CICA’s Corporate Finance Working group and a past
Chair of the CF Qualification Board.

Taranjit (“T.J.”) Sekhon, Director

T.J. is responsible for providing advisory services in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and capital raising activities for
mid-market clients. He has been providing investment banking advisory services since 1998.
T.J. joined Scotiabank near the inception of MMCA in 2011. Previously, T.J. was a Vice President with Aon Reed
Stenhouse's M&A Transaction Advisory Group, a Vice President with Ernst & Young Orenda Corporate Finance Inc. and an
Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance. During this time, T.J. advised mid-market clients across a wide
variety of industries.
T.J. earned Honours Bachelor of Arts and Master of Accounting degrees from the University of Waterloo. He is a Chartered
Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Simon joined Scotiabank as an Associate in the Mid-Market Capital Advisory Group in 2014. Prior to joining Scotiabank,
Simon spent seven months at Deloitte Corporate Finance where he worked on mid-market M&A transactions in a variety of
industries. Prior to this, Simon spent three years in the Assurance and Advisory Group at Deloitte LLP where he focused on
Financial Institution industry clients.
Simon graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa, and is a Chartered Professional
Accountant. Simon is a Chartered Financial Analyst level two candidate.
