It may be modified by the head teacher, with your agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job title. Teaching and learning 1. Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils • Have an extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential. • Have teaching skills which lead to learners achieving well relative to their prior attainment, making progress as good as, or better than, similar learners nationally • Establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect • Set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions • Demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils. 2. Fulfil wider professional responsibilities • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school • Develop effective professional relationships with colleagues, knowing how and when to draw on advice and specialist support • Deploy support staff effectively • Take responsibility for improving teaching through appropriate professional development, responding to advice and feedback from colleagues • Communicate effectively with parents with regard to pupils’ achievements and well being 9. Health and well-being • Have sufficient depth of knowledge and experience to be able to give advice on the development and well-being of children and young people • Identify and adopt the most effective teaching approaches for all pupils • Plan appropriate activities in accordance with varying learning styles to ensure every child has the opportunity to progress • Adopt a personalised approach to teaching • Evaluate teaching and learning activities to meet the needs of pupils • Identify and teach skills that will develop pupils’ ability to work independently • Effectively employ assessments to inform learning, sharing these with parents and other staff members as appropriate. Leadership/TLR 1. Understand issues relating to the organisation, ordering and funding of resources, including recognising and carrying out duties in accordance with the Schools Finance Regulations and Procedures and Segregation of Duties 2. Provide an excellent role model of subject management for English in line with the schools high standards of subject teaching, planning, monitoring and assessment. 3. Ensure that the policy statements for Mathematics are current. 4. Monitor Mathematics across the school in accordance with the monitoring timetable. 5. Provide and action annual plans for improvement for Mathematics across the school informed by monitoring and standards. 6. Assist in the setting of targets for school improvement. 7. Undertake work scrutinizing to develop progress in Mathematics beyond satisfactory. 8. Provide training opportunities for learning support assistants and other teachers to learn about Mathematics. 9. Disseminate good practice in Mathematics across the school. 10. Identify resources needed to meet the needs of pupils for Mathematics advise to head teacher of priorities for expenditure 11. Ensure that resources for learning are kept in excellent condition by maintenance, repair or replacement. 12. Ensure that resources are accessible, used effectively, and that new resources are displayed to staff Impact on educational progress beyond assigned pupils Work with other relevant staff to: • Identify appropriate attainment and/or achievement targets • Monitor pupil standards and achievement against annual targets • Monitor planning, curriculum coverage and learning outcomes • Monitor standards of pupil behaviour and application • Lead evaluation strategies to contribute to overall school self-evaluation • Plan and implement strategies where improvement needs are identified • Ensure relevant attainment/achievement targets are met. Leading, developing and enhancing the teaching practice of others Work with other relevant staff: • Maintain personal expertise in teaching and learning and share this with other teachers • Act as a role model of good classroom practice for other teachers and model effective strategies for them • Monitor and evaluate standards of teaching and learning, identifying areas for improvement • Plan and implement strategies to improve teaching where needs are identified • Induct, support and monitor new staff • To act as a Performance Management Team Leader for identified staff Other duties and responsibilities 1. Promote the inclusive culture of our school to value the worth of each individual. 2. Conduct school assemblies in accordance with rotas and as requested by the Head teacher 3. To ensure that Leading Teacher tasks are carried out to an excellent standard. 4. Work closely with leadership team, taking a leadership role in developing, implementing and evaluating policies and practice in Carr Mill and other workplaces that contribute to school improvement.
