Tutoring for Student Athletes Job Description Role: Provide academic support for undergraduate student athletes through activities aimed at clarifying concepts and developing skills in a variety of courses and disciplines. Responsibilities Include: Attend pre service training at the start of the semester, as well as mid-semester and end of semester all-tutor meetings Tutor individuals or small groups in multiple subject areas- specialties based on major and/or course of study are noted Attend structured team study hall sessions, usually in the afternoon and evening hours Complete session evaluation after each meeting (individual, small group, and study hall and noshows) Work collaboratively with fellow tutors, computer lab monitors, and students Follow NCAA and URI rules and regulations as they pertain to student athletes, academic progress, performance and eligibility Promote positive academic skill development Recommend additional services, such as the AEC, schedule permitting Contribute to overall cleanliness of tutoring spaces Support other tutors as needed Stay current on course content, tutoring needs Minimum Qualifications: Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater Grade of B or higher in course Comfortable working with groups Excellent Interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications: Willingness to learn Understanding Flexibility within a structure that can change To apply: To apply online, visit uri.edu/aec/work-at-aec, and your application will be forwarded to the athletics department.
