JOB SUMMARY:

Assists students seeking help in developing course-specific study skills
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Tutors students in study skills and select disciplines (e.g., calculus, chemistry, logic, biology,
French, etc.) using Academic Skills Center resources in tutorials.
2. Plans tutoring sessions prior to all meetings by being well informed of the subject matter
and appropriate academic skills background materials.
3.
Assists students in gaining the skills, facts, concepts, and the confidence they need to learn
on their own.
4.
Responds to correspondence and phone calls in a timely manner.
5.
Submits online tutor reports upon the completion of tutoring session.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate or graduate status at the University; 3.0 cumulative grade point average;
sensitivity in working with students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds; and able to work 6 to
25 hours per month.
