Job Description: Under administrative supervision of Director for the University Academic
Success Programs (UASP), plans, organizes, and coordinates student support services
targeted to promoting academic standards and student success in meeting these standards
to improve retention and graduation rates for undergraduate students in the university, and
coordinates all operations of the W.P. Carey Student Success Center.
Essential Duties:
●Provide outreach and marketing to campus community regarding the Student Success
Center services.
●Recruit, interview, hire, and train student employees for designated areas. Supervise
student support staff. Plans, directs and organizes the activities of the student support unit.
● Supervision of professional staff.
●Develops internal manual and computer systems and materials for delivery of student
services, including implementation and instruction for use.
●Collaborate with faculty to identify student needs for all student employee positions and
act as liaison to academic departments, including attending appropriate meetings within
W.P. Carey.
●Evaluate need for additional academic support services such as test reviews and structured
study groups and implement when appropriate.
●Initiates, develops and sustains strong positive relations with program
coordinators/directors and department chairs to ensure achievement of the mission and
goals of UASP and W.P. Carey.
●Manage all aspects of TutorTrac program, including monitoring and tracking data, creating
reports, and resolving issues as they arise.
●Develops tutoring schedule based on budget and demonstrated need of targeted student
population.
●Manage all resources (text books, handouts, calculators etc.).
●Represent designated campus on committees for four-campus UASP unit.
●Ensure that content for the designated Student Success Center website is accurate and
updated as needed.
●Provide direct tutoring help, individually and in small groups, to students as appropriate.
●Works collaboratively with UASP Management Team to coordinate academic success
program development, implementation, presence and coordination at various campus
locations to ensure availability of appropriate resource materials and support.
●As requested, assists in research, identification, and preparation of a variety of grant
proposals to increase available funding of program necessary to ensure ongoing financial
viability necessary to the program's ability to address academic needs of students.
●Prepares regular program reports providing trends, activity, student utilization,
programmatic gaps and indicators of student success; identifies areas for improvement as
appropriate to ensure ongoing achievement of established goals and objectives; responds to
ad hoc data analysis requests from Director, Office of the Provost, and other interested
entities.
●Assists prepare budget proposals; establishes expenditure controls and recommends the
allocation of resources within the limitations of the budget.
●Acts as program liaison to current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and external
groups on issues related to academic success.
●Responds to student questions and concerns; works with students to resolve all issues to
ensure ongoing satisfaction with program and successful progress to completion.
●Works collaboratively and collegially with academic units and services throughout the
university to facilitate comprehensive student support.
●Utilizes a variety of university data and programmatic direction to promote student
academic success.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and at least three (3)
years related experience in tutoring, student retention, related student success services, or
teaching in an institution of higher education, one (1) of which includes administrative and
appropriate program experience OR Master's degree in a field appropriate to the area of
assignment and at least one (1) year experience in one or more of the following: tutoring,
student retention, related student services, teaching in an institution of higher education
OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable
knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and one year of
related administrative experience

Knowledge of two or more of the following academic areas: math, science, business,
or engineering

Skill in program design and development

Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended
periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to
stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%)
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%) Regular
activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to
resolution of conflicts Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to
perform essential functions.; Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not
limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax,
calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.; Receives
regular review of work activities to ensure achievement of established goals and objectives.
