THIS YEAR’S MUSICAL IS
CHARLIE BROWN
FEBRUARY 21
On February 21, the fourth and fifth graders
will perform the musical “CHARLIE BROWN.”
We will once again present a 1:00 matinee
and a 7:00 evening performance. The
students will showcase their acting, dancing
and singing skills in a forty-five minute
musical. The script will include the
memorable CHARLIE BROWN characters and
a full-body costumed SNOOPY! Thanks again
to all the parents and teachers who have
helped with previous shows. I will soon be
calling on your help again. Be on the lookout for scripts and music CD that I will be
sending home with your student.

COUGAR CHOIR SINGS AT
HOLT’S SUMMIT FALL FESTIVAL
The Cougar Choir sang at the Holt’s Summit Fall
Festival on Saturday, October 13th, in Greenway
Park. This is the seventh year that the Holts
Summit Community Betterment Association has
organized this event.
The performance included a song performed by
both, the Cougar Choir and the North School
Notables, titled, “Step into the Spotlight.”
Thank you to the 28 choir members from
Callaway Hills that attended this event in support
of our community. Festival events included fire
truck rides, pumpkin decorating, children’s train
rides, a batting cage, a bounce house and more.
Special thanks to the Mauzy family and the Blake
Family for moving risers and sound equipment
for the show!!!
See pictures of this event on the stage door at CHE.

ORCHESTRA TRAINING
FOR FIFTH GRADERS
Thirteen fifth-graders started on string instruments this fall
at CHE. We are delighted to have so many students
interested in playing in the orchestra! The Jefferson City
School District supports music education by generously
supplying students with a violin, viola or cello as long as
they choose to continue to be part of the school orchestra
program.
The district also employs a string teacher, Susan Wallace,
who comes to our school two times a week to instruct our
beginning orchestra students. Students wanting more
experience can also attend the All-School 5th Grade
Orchestra that rehearses on Mondays after school in the
high school orchestra room.
Our CHE string players will join together with the other
elementary school fifth-grade string players to perform
three concerts this year--December 4, March 5, and May 1.
We want to thank Mrs. Susan Wallace for doing such a
great job here at Callaway Hills instructing our fifth grade
string players.
CHILI SUPPER
Thank you to our First Graders and their parents for the
musical performance at the CHE PTO’s Chili Supper
fund-raising event in September. We had a record
number of students show up to perform classic
children’s game-songs including The Farmer in the Dell,
London Bridge, The Mulberry Bush and The Hokey
Pokey. Thank you to the first grade teachers for helping
with the performance. And thank you to the PTO for the
delicious food!
Special thanks to
Lauren Blake and Hallie Stephens
for providing accompaniment for the
first-grade singers and entertaining
us, in between songs, on the piano.
Also, thanks to the first grade teachers
for their help during the program! Bravissimo, ladies
.
