APUSH – SECOND SEMESTER SOME REMINDERS AND RENEWALS…. My webpage: www.petershistoryclass.blogspot.com . Use it to keep current with the pace of the class and assignments. GRADES 20% Assignments, home and class 60% Tests, Quizzes and Essays: 20% Final Exam: (taken just before AP Exam in ON MAY 2) TUTORING: If you are in need of extra time and instruction on any matter, please make an appointment with Mr. Peters so you can improve. ATTENDANCE It will take considerably more effort than normal if you have an attendance problem. The class moves quickly whether you are here or not. Do not miss class except for in extreme circumstances. EXAMS: Exam protocol: Students are responsible for taking care in markings and erasures on “Scantron”/mechanically scored exams. Poor clarity on answer choices will not be corrected if scanned as incorrect. Timed Essays: Must be written in blue or black ink. Failure to do so will result in a 1-point deduction from the score of the essay Make-ups are required upon the day you return. Failure to adhere to this requirement will result in the grade being marked “zero.” Makeup exams are different than the original one given. A truancy on the day of an exam will result in the test being scored as “zero”. School policy is that you must clear an absence through the attendance office with 48 hours. Failure to meet this deadline will result in NO MAKEUP of the missed exam. LATE WORK: Up to one week but with a 50% of the grade earned deducted. After one week from the due date has elapsed, the work is no longer accepted. Stay current! TEST MAKEUPS: If you are absent the day of a test, you will be allowed to do a makeup (different from the original) during your lunch on the day your return. WITHIN FIVE DAYS OF THE TEST. AFTER 5 DAYS, YOU FORFEIT THE RIGHT TO DO THE MAKE UP. Notes on the AP Exam and Assignments: - Though the AP exam is not required, it is expected that you will take the exam. If a student chooses to NOT take the test, a makeup project – culminating with the taking of an actual AP test – will be assigned by Mid-March and will be due on May 13. This project is designed to mimic the number of hours and effort usually applied to studying for the exam by those who will take the test. - The cost is around $90 and financial help is available to those who ask and who qualify. WORK DONE AFTER THE AP EXAM (MAY 14-END OF YEAR) Assignments given after we have taken the AP exam will be part of the assignment category of the grade. EXTRA CREDIT: AP Exam Scores: 5 % increase for a 3; 7% for a 4; 10% for a 5. This will be done the first week of your senior year. Those who take the AP exam will be given full credit for a 50 point exam in the grade book. This is not extra credit, but a 50 point test in which you’ll receive 50 points for taking the National Exam. Those who do not take the national exam will not receive these points. TARDIES: School policy will be enforced. Check your student handbook. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY: King High School has adopted a stringent and fair policy on cheating. It is highly recommended that you read it and understand it. It is EXPECTED in this class that you work with integrity at all times. Any assignment in which cheating has taken place will receive a ZERO grade with no opportunity for make-up. Your parent will be notified of the infraction. CLASS RULES: 1.
