An introduction to personal computers and their applications. Topics
include introduction to the PC, keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheets,
database, career preparation and presentation software.
Text: Cortez Peters, Learning English Skills through Word Processing,
Typing Web, and Microsoft Office.
Lab Exercises, Class Discussion, and some lecture. The class is self
paced, with students getting assistant from instructor on an as needed basis.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.
Must be able to type 40wpm or better upon completion of course.
2.
No unauthorized electronic devices permitted during class, IPods, I phones, Smart phones, cell phones, .etc.
3.
Have a USB hard drive 8 Gbytes or more for special projects, and Portfolio.
4.
Create a new G-mail account, and Hotmail account.
5.
Must stand for “Flag Salute” as a sign of respect, only applies to first period.
6.
Must Complete all Special Projects, and Tests to be able to pass course.
7.
Must serve Lab time for conduct code offenses that are greater than 70%, or receive an Incomplete grade.
8.
As per District requirement must attend class 85% of the time per grading period to receive a Grade.
9.
No computer games or music is permitted, only that provided by Teacher.
10.
Music is a privilege provided by the Teacher who does not take special requests.
11.
Makeup on missing class assignments or quizzes will be given during the Open Lab at 7:30 am.

CLASS POLICIES FOR BUSINESS STUDENTS
**General rule is that students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that allows the teacher to teach and the students to learn
1. BE IN CLASS ON TIME:
A. If come to class later than ten minutes you will be marked absent.
2. TARDIES ARE DISCOURAGED:
A. First tardy:
15 points from Conduct Grade and morning detention in room 20 at 7:30 AM
B. Second tardy:
20 points from Conduct Grade and morning detention in room 20 at 7:30 AM
C. Third tardy:
25 points from Conduct Grade, morning detention in room 20 at 7:30 AM
D. Fourth tardy:
marked absence, until detentions are made up.
3. BE IN CLASS AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE;
A. If missed more that 7 days for the quarter you will receive an F due to missing assignments, tests, violations of rule of 85%
attendance, etc. Unless you have an excuse and make up missing work. These are the only acceptable excuses:
1. Doctor's note
2. Administrative Excuse
5. PASSES ARE DISCOURAGED:
A. First pass: 10 points from your conduct grade.
B. Second pass: 15 points from your conduct grade
C. Third pass: 20 points from your conduct grade
6. COMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS AND HOMEWORK ON TIME:
A. Late assignments will not be accepted without valid excuse, you have 2 days upon return to make up missing work.
B. Makeup assignments must be done during open lab which is at 7:30 am in room 20 NO EXCEPTIONS.
7. ALL MAKEUP WORK WILL BE GIVEN AT TEACHER’S CONVIENCE.
A. If you cannot make up tests with the Teacher then do not miss the tests
B. Make arrangements with Teacher in advance to take test
8. If Missing Test, Special Assignments or Projects, or you cannot type your name, You Will Receive A
Failing Grade for the Grading Period
9. A DATA BASE RECORD WILL BE KEPT FOR MISCONDUCT IN CLASS;
1. Each offense in class will result in your name being written in the data base
2. You will lose grade points with every offense.
3. 2 REFERRALS RESULTS IN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL.
10. If you damage any equipment, you will be expected to pay for its repair or replacement.

In order to make this contract valid, the student must get their parent/Guardian to email me. Then student will get credit for the
class syllabus.
