Welcome

Approval of minutes from Thursday April 19, 2012

Principals Report:

2012-2013 Although nothing has been confirmed at the time of the meeting due to upcoming
budget cuts from the Ontario government there may be a decrease in hours of non-essential teachers,
administration and support staff.

Staff changes – 7 staff retirement , 4 teachers changing to other schools. Twenty staff likely moving
schools or leaving.

Increase in LTO position s from 28-32

Agendas will still be purchased for Grade 9 students by the school, and will be made available for
other students to buy.

Review and revisions of the Code of Conduct – This will be available on line, in the agendas as well
as a printed copy for the students if requested.

BYOD – ( Bring your own device) Wireless access will be available in schools, training will be
offered to the teachers to find the best ways to incorporate lesson plans, ideas and usage with these
devices.

A grade 9 student from TFSS was appointed to the Minister’s Student Advisory Council – a
provincial group that hears student’s concerns. Sixty students selected from across the Province. A very
special privilege to have been selected.

Students did well at the Robotics Fair


A plan for a shortened day (classed until 12:30) on June 1 to allow SCAC to have a “fun day” with
outdoor activities

Hosting the OFSA Lacrosse tournament & Banquet

May 23 – Elder Help Peel Conference with workshops and keynote speakers.

Plans to replace the South gym floor over the summer


7. Council Business

Kiss & ride (parking lot issues) – Janice has spoken to the board about being involved in the “School
Travel Planning Project” in conjunction with the Police, School Board & Trustees , to see if we can plan for a
better traffic flow/drop off areas in the parking lot and surrounding streets. Janice has expressed Councils
disappointment with proposed plan to only repaint lines.

 Plans for Thursday September 27 for the new parent information evening -still deciding upon
speakers/booths/ format etc. Mr. Rosario will ask for a few teachers to contact Janice Ing for input. Janice
has requested a V.P. to be a contact for any questions while organizing the evening. This event is hosted
in partnership by the School and Council .
