Didactical Approach The course is an evenly split combination of lectures on the one hand and an implementation project on the other. The goal for the lectures is to understand generic approaches of business process management, and how to design concrete business process models. Furthermore an understanding of the interrelationship between business processes and ERP systems is essential. The implementation project deals with the creation of a concrete organizational structure, master data as well as business processes in the SAP ERP IDES system based on a case study. Case Study Overview In today’s global economy it is essential to have an overall perspective. This course forces you to build business processes based on the requirements of a certain company. For this purpose the company´s organizational structure is established first by creating the various elements and then mapping the connections that each has to the other. SAP ERP uses the organizational structure as the base from which to tie everything together. The master data records hold all the characteristics of the products, vendors, customers, and accounts. Master data is specific to the organizational structure. The students create each aspect within the progress of the im‐
plementation project and can understand the interdependence between these elements. Based on configuration activites the business processes are transformed into chains of SAP ERP transactions in order to increase the company´s efficiency. Assignment Guidelines for written Documents ‐ Enterprise Structure Documentation The documentation (PDF‐File) is expected to contain the answers for the enterprise structure Magdeburg Mo‐
torsport Group. It is graded by team. Due Date: Monday, 16th of April, 08h00 For sending the file please use the following expression: ESD_<Group_No.>.pdf, e.g. ESD_Group1.pdf ‐ SAP Term Paper The documentation (PDF‐File) should contain a solid explanation of the chosen solutions. mized by using SAP ERP transactions (in the sense of “IT‐Services”). Further proposals concerning IT‐solutions for the near future of the group can be made in addition. It is expected to have a structuring, text passages comprising about 15 pages (plus graphics) in total. The style of writing has to be scientifically oriented (critical objectivity is expected regarding strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats). Each subgroup gets a separate grade for their part. In addition the documentation has to contain reflections about “lessons learned” out of the teamwork at the end ‐ however this part won´t be graded. Due Date: Wednesday, 4th of July, 08h00 For sending the file please use the following expression: TP_<Group_No.>.pdf, e.g. TP_Group1.pdf 4 Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences ‐ Syllabus: Business Process Management (BIS6011) Prof. Dr. F.
