EVENT DESCRIPTIONS
7.
Mechavolution
Mechavolution is an event where your practicality, design, and mechanical skills are put to test. lt is
a platform that welcomes students from all walks of academic life and throws them into a pit filled
with wires, servos and a lot of plastic to invite them into a wired up heaven. lt's not just a
competition, it's a revolution. Round 1 will take place on the first day where teams will bid for
materials and will take part in various workshops. ln the second round participants will build a
robotic car from the materials they had bid for. They will also take part in assembling a Robotic arm.
ln Round 3, contestants will check the efficiency of their robots through a series of tasks and arena
fights. They will be tested on the machine's aesthetic design, assembling, and their ability to fulfil
a
designated task by following guidelines and instructions.
2.
Science Enigma
What's a competition without a mind boggling quiz? This event is for all you know-it-alls out
there! lt's time to put your general knowledge to test. The first round will be an elimination
round, in which each team will be given a written quiz on all branches of science, be it biology,
chemistry, physics, computer science etc. The top teams to qualify in this round will proceed to
the next round which will be a practical round. The modelto be made will be announced after
the first round. The final round will be a buzzer round, where teams will have to use their
knowledge and their quick wit in order to come out on top. Be careful though ! Negative marking
is a factor that may bring you down from your throne. The team with the greatest combined
score of Round 2 and Round 3 will be the team to take the trophy home.
3.
Design and Engineering Concept
Two weeks before the competition: Each team will have prior knowledge of requirements for
the event which shall be emailed to the head delegates together with sample presentations. All
teams will come up with a presentation explaining their proposals for a rover for a space
expedition programme. This information must be submitted to event heads prior to the
competition. On day 2 the teams will be grouped together into different companies and will
have a crisis thrown at them. Day 3 is a working-project based round. The project is to be based
on alternate eco-friendly energy sources.

TechBates
TechBates is a Model United Nations Committee. MATCH proudly presents to you a new
dimension through which the field of science and development can be explored. TechBates is an
innovative agenda which takes its shape in the form of a typical MUN committee setting. This
platform allows you to argue against and socialize with different people from all across the
country. The delegates will have to debate on a topic that will be given on the Match website a
month prior to the event. The topic will revolve around developing technologies and their social
implications and acceptance/rejection. There will be five committee sessions conducted.
Winners will be decided on the basis of culmination of the scores from allsessions, which will be
awarded by the Committee Chairs and the Directors.
5.
MathWhiz
This event comprises of a series of mathematical quizzes which will test your mathematical
abilities and give you a new perspective of mathematics and mechanics. This comprises of three
rounds. The first round will be a written mathematical quiz. The top teams in this round will
qualify for Round 2. Round 2 will be a series of mathematical puzzles that the delegates will
have to solve in the allotted time period. The top 4 teams from this round will qualify for Round
3, where mathematical questions will be displayed on a screen and delegates will have to
answer them as fast as they can. The team with the most points in this round will win the event.
Be

Da Vinci's Realm
"Every science begins as philosophy and ends as art," (Johann Wolfgang). For years there has
been a never ending war between art students and science students, upon the fact that art is
better than science, and vice versa. Well this year MATCH brings you an event which makes you
realize why we use the phrases "The Art of Science" & "The Science of Art". This event
comprises of three rounds. The first round will have an information session followed by a
general quiz. The winner team of this quiz will get to choose from a choice of three topics, which
will be the theme for the next round. ln the next round, contestants will have to depict the topic
using art as their tool. lt can be a painting, it can be a model, it can be anything you want it to
be, creativity has no limits! The third and finalround is a presentation of yourwork, where
renowned judges will judge you upon your creativity, how well you depict the theme and what
materials you use. So grab a paintbrush and let loose your creativity because that's all you need
to win this event.

is the event for you. lt's time to put all that knowledge from criminal TV shows to test. The first
round will be a rapid fire round, where you will be tested on your knowledge about forensics,
police procedures and investigation methods. The second round will be a case solving round, in
which you will be provided with clues which you have to use in order to solve the case
presented to you. The third round will be a presentation of your case in which you will be
explaining to the judges and the audience, how and why you came to your theory. The team

put on your Sherlock shoes and brush up your fandom knowledge before you become detectives
in this event!
9.
Decrypt and Conquer
Decrypt and Conquer is an event where not only your mathematical skills, but also your logical
thinking and code breaking skills are put to test. ln the first round, the participants will have to
move from symbol to symbol throughout the campus. Each symbol will have a riddle or a code,
which they have to break, in order to reach the next symbol. The top teams in this round will
qualify forthe next round. ln Round 2, participants will have to solve riddles and clues in order
to crack the code and from a word. The qualifying teams will go to the third and final round
which will be a combination of the most difficult, most complex codes and mathematical riddles.
