This competition is an event meant to promote the general sciences. Participants will get a chance to compete in various categories that will help them identify fundamental principles and methodologies, which in turn will enable them to develop instruments to monitor, manipulate and control systems. They will acquire skills which will allow them to explore the different aspects of the vast field of modern scre nce. LGS M.A.T.C.H 2.0 is scheduled to be held from the l8thof September to the 2Othof September 2015, M.A.T.C.H 2.0 consists of a combination of events that stimulate imaginative thinking. Mechavolution Mechavolution is an event where your practicality, design, and mechanical skills are put to test. lt is a platform that welcomes students from all walks of academic life and throws them into a pit filled with wires, servos and a lot of plastic to invite them into a wired up heaven. lt's not just a competition, it's a revolution. Round 1 will take place on the first day where teams will bid for materials and will take part in various workshops. ln the second round participants will build a robotic car from the materials they had bid for. They will also take part in assembling a Robotic arm. ln Round 3, contestants will check the efficiency of their robots through a series of tasks and arena fights. They will be tested on the machine's aesthetic design, assembling, and their ability to fulfil a designated task by following guidelines and instructions. 2. Science Enigma What's a competition without a mind boggling quiz? This event is for all you know-it-alls out there! lt's time to put your general knowledge to test. The first round will be an elimination round, in which each team will be given a written quiz on all branches of science, be it biology, chemistry, physics, computer science etc. The top teams to qualify in this round will proceed to the next round which will be a practical round. The modelto be made will be announced after the first round. The final round will be a buzzer round, where teams will have to use their knowledge and their quick wit in order to come out on top. Be careful though ! Negative marking is a factor that may bring you down from your throne. The team with the greatest combined score of Round 2 and Round 3 will be the team to take the trophy home. 3. Design and Engineering Concept Two weeks before the competition: Each team will have prior knowledge of requirements for the event which shall be emailed to the head delegates together with sample presentations. All teams will come up with a presentation explaining their proposals for a rover for a space expedition programme. This information must be submitted to event heads prior to the competition. On day 2 the teams will be grouped together into different companies and will have a crisis thrown at them. Day 3 is a working-project based round. TechBates TechBates is a Model United Nations Committee. MATCH proudly presents to you a new dimension through which the field of science and development can be explored. TechBates is an innovative agenda which takes its shape in the form of a typical MUN committee setting. This platform allows you to argue against and socialize with different people from all across the country. The delegates will have to debate on a topic that will be given on the Match website a month prior to the event. The topic will revolve around developing technologies and their social implications and acceptance/rejection. There will be five committee sessions conducted. Winners will be decided on the basis of culmination of the scores from allsessions, which will be awarded by the Committee Chairs and the Directors. 5. MathWhiz This event comprises of a series of mathematical quizzes which will test your mathematical abilities and give you a new perspective of mathematics and mechanics. This comprises of three rounds. The first round will be a written mathematical quiz. The top teams in this round will qualify for Round 2. Round 2 will be a series of mathematical puzzles that the delegates will have to solve in the allotted time period. The top 4 teams from this round will qualify for Round 3, where mathematical questions will be displayed on a screen and delegates will have to answer them as fast as they can. The team with the most points in this round will win the event. Be 5. carefulthoughl A wrong answer in this round will lead to negative marking. Da Vinci's Realm "Every science begins as philosophy and ends as art," (Johann Wolfgang). For years there has been a never ending war between art students and science students, upon the fact that art is better than science, and vice versa. Well this year MATCH brings you an event which makes you realize why we use the phrases "The Art of Science" & "The Science of Art". This event comprises of three rounds. The first round will have an information session followed by a general quiz. The winner team of this quiz will get to choose from a choice of three topics, which will be the theme for the next round. ln the next round, contestants will have to depict the topic using art as their tool. lt can be a painting, it can be a model, it can be anything you want it to be, creativity has no limits!The third and finalround is a presentation of yourwork, where renowned judges will judge you upon your creativity, how well you depict the theme and what materials you use. A Spacetime Odyssey This event is for allyou space geeks out there!Your love and obsession with the dark mysteries of the universe will be tested in this event. The first round will be a series of quizzes which will lead to the elimination of teams. ln the second round, teams will be divided into companies, and they'll have to work together to present their theories about various untouched space topics. ln Round 3 they'll have to present their idea to a panelof judges, and the company with the best presentation will be the winner for this event! 8. The Silent Witnesses Do you have what it takes to solve crimes? Do you have what it takes to find clues and solve them piece by piece? Do you have what it takes to become a detective? Well if you do, then this is the event for you. lt's time to put all that knowledge from criminal TV shows to test. The first round will be a rapid fire round, where you will be tested on your knowledge about forensics, police procedures and investigation methods. The second round will be a case solving round, in which you will be provided with clues which you have to use in order to solve the case presented to you. The third round will be a presentation of your case in which you will be explaining to the judges and the audience, how and why you came to your theory. The team with the most rock solid theory will get the most points, and will win this event. So make sure to put on your Sherlock shoes and brush up your fandom knowledge before you become detectives in this event! 9. Decrypt and Conquer Decrypt and Conquer is an event where not only your mathematical skills, but also your logical thinking and code breaking skills are put to test. ln the first round, the participants will have to move from symbol to symbol throughout the campus. Each symbol will have a riddle or a code, which they have to break, in order to reach the next symbol. The top teams in this round will qualify forthe next round. ln Round 2, participants will have to solve riddles and clues in order to crack the code and from a word. The qualifying teams will go to the third and final round which will be a combination of the most difficult, most complex codes and mathematical riddles. Physical violence, use of fou! language and misbehaviour with LGS M.A.T.C.H 2.O Management or other participants. 2. Damaging school property or entering any restricted area. 3. Using unfair means to gain an advantage over the other participants in an attempt to win a competition. 4. Arguing with the judges over the results. The results and the judge's decisions are final and cannot be questioned. 5. Smoking, use of alcoho! or any other intoxicant on campus. 6. Creating excessive noise or disturbance on campus. 7. Portraying of violence, profanity, drug abuse and any other offensive material. 8. Misusing or damaging any of the equipment provided by the management. Participants are requested to be in appropriate attire (smart casual or forma!) on all three days. Team LGS M.A.T.CH will not be responsible for any misplaced belongings.
