Instilling a life-long love of learning languages in her students has always been one of her goals. She plays language games with the three-year olds as well as with the fifty-year olds so that students have fun while acquiring Spanish. "I learned from my husband how not to teach a language," says Madelene. "He still has bad memories of the notebooks he had to fill with French verb conjugations and to this day refuses to speak French although he actually understands quite a bit." Just as when you acquire your first language as a child, learning another language is about hearing it on a regular basis. The idea for "Walk and Learn Spanish Numbers" came to her while on a treadmill. "I love to walk to music and sometimes I walk while listening to French lessons. So I thought combining the two would be a fun way to learn. Why not walk while learning?" Madelene holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Carroll College in Helena, Montana and is a Cuban-born native speaker of Spanish. She has taught Spanish at Carroll College and at her Spanish Language School in Kalispell, Montana.
