frequently asked Questions

Where exactly is the entrance to

Tower Bridge Exhibition?

The ticket office is a glass fronted structure that can be found at the North West Tower of the Bridge. The tour concludes at the Engine Rooms which are situated underneath the bridge on the South Bank, however, groups may also begin their tour at the Engine Rooms.

A map is shown on page eight.

How long will I spend at the Exhibition?

We recommend allowing 1–1½ hours for a visit, although as it is a self-guided visit you are welcome to move through at your own pace.

If I bring my group, is it necessary to book?

We do advise you to book your group visit in advance to ensure you receive the group rate and to avoid your visit clashing with any other large parties. Payment for group bookings is required at least two weeks prior to the date of visit.

Can we take pictures from the Walkways?

Yes, you can take pictures anywhere on the Bridge or in the Engine Rooms. We have special windows that open in the Walkways so that you can take pictures without having glass in front of your camera lens.

Where are the toilets?

There are toilets within the South Tower which are accessible once you have passed through the ticket office and gone up in the lift. There are also toilets in the Engine

Rooms, just by the entrance.

Will we see a bridge lift through the new glass floor in the Walkways?

Yes, as long as you plan your visit to coincide with a bridge lift ( towerbridge.org/TBE/EN/BridgeLiftTimes).

If there is not a scheduled bridge lift at the time of your visit you can download our new FREE ‘Raise Tower

Bridge’ app which enables you to enjoy a full 360-degree panoramic video of the Bridge being raised beneath your feet. Almost as good as the real thing!

Do you have a gift shop?

Yes, it is located by the Engine Rooms but can be visited at any time without partaking in a tour.

Where does our coach park?

There is a coach park conveniently located near the Tower of London. Alternatively the driver could drop you off on

Tooley Street next to the Bridge or outside the Guoman

Tower Hotel. More detailed information on coach parking is included on page 13.

Is there somewhere we can eat nearby?

There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs around

Shad Thames and further along the river within Hays

Galleria. Included in this pack you will find a selection of restaurants with telephone numbers so you can book in advance.

the monument

The Monument commemorates one of the most famous events in London’s history. Designed by Sir Christopher

Wren and Dr Robert Hooke, and completed in 1677, this colossal column remembers the Great Fire of London and celebrates the City which rose from the ashes.

Every year, over 150,000 visitors climb the 311 spiral steps to the Monument’s observation gallery to enjoy unique and exhilarating 360 degree views of the capital. Those that successfully reach the top are even rewarded with a certificate.

In 2010, the City of London completed a major restoration of the landmark, costing £4.5 million, and which is undertaken only once every 100 years. It has had the most dramatic impact yet, with its success being recognised through awards for renovation from both the Royal

Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Royal Institute of British Architects, as well as having won the City

Heritage award.
