What is your Job?
Pat: Good afternoon everyone. Today we’re going to be talking
about the type of work everyone does. To get us started I’ll tell
you what I do. I work in a college. I teach adults. I am a lecturer.
Sheena, what kind of work do you do?
Sheena: I work in a restaurant. I serve food to the customers. I am a waitress.
Pat: Very good, Sheena. What kind of work would you like to do?
Sheena: I would like to work in a hospital. I would like to help people who are
ill. I would like to be a doctor.
Pat: That’s great. Stan, what kind of work do you do?
Stan: I work outside. I keep animals and grow food. I am a farmer.
Pat: Do you enjoy your job, Stan?
Stan: I enjoy my job very much. I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.
Pat: Thank you, Stan. Rita, what kind of work do you do?
Rita: I work in a shop. I cut people’s hair. I am a hairdresser.
Pat: What kind of work would you like to do?
Rita: I like the job I have, but I hope to open my own hairdressing business
and become a manager.
Pat: Good luck with that, Rita. Let’s see now, Stephanie, what work do you
do?
Stephanie: I also work in a restaurant. I cook the food. I am a chef.
Pat: That’s sounds like hard work. Would you like to do another job?
Stephanie: Do you mean have two jobs?
Pat: No, I mean change your employment!
Stephanie: I am studying business administration so I too would like to
manage my own business someday.
