o Addition of “I” to create them

o Use “y” to create the combined numbers

Introduction to New Material (Time _______)
- Going to learn numbers 1-100  may seem a little daunting/scary, but in reality,
all you need to do is learn the basic numbers, and then you can create any single
number you want after that, from 1-100
o Start with the basic numbers – 1-10
o Then move on to learn 11-20, the unique/special numbers, and then we
will learn how to make combined numbers
- Numbers 1-10
o Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez
o Write on board/transparency, have Ss follow along on guided notes
o Chorally repeat
- Numbers 11-19
o Once, doce, trece, catorce, quince, dieciséis, diecisiete, dieciocho,
diecinueve
o Write on board/transparency, have Ss follow along
o Chorally repeat
- Multiples of 10
o Diez, veinte, treinta, cuarenta, cincuenta, sesenta, setenta, ochenta,
noventa, cien

- Combined numbers
o Combined numbers are made with the numbers we already know – it’s
easy!
o One thing you need to remember – one special letter –“y” (I griega)
 Means “and” – so when we want to say “forty one” – we say
“cuarenta y uno”

- Song on youtube – just like alphabet song, have the Ss listen to a few songs, then
sing along – numbers 1-30
o Listen a few times, have students sing along

o Flashcards – have numbers on one side, Spanish on the other side
 Show Ss the number – have them write it in Spanish
 Then have Ss write them on the boards
 If class can handle it, have them partner up and do this
together
