2016 Fairfax Festival
Site Specific Storytelling
Expression Of Interest
Application Due: Friday 29th January 2016 - 5.00pm.
Artists must use their specialist skills to work with one group of up to ten young people from regional
communities in Victoria and NSW.
Each artist will be paired with one group and be required to create a unique ten minute performance
or live art work which reflects the stories and/or experiences of the young people in each group
[Please note that performances may be shorter than 10 minutes].
This is not the Fairfax commissioning the artist to come in with a pre-planned idea and imposing it
on the groups; this is the artist collaborating with the participants, working with the group and using
the artist’s creative process and skills to shape the final performance of the participant’s stories.
The Festival takes place over three stages:
1) In- Community Residencies: Artists will work with groups for approximately 22 hours per
group.
2) Fairfax Festival Week from the 13th – 16th of September, 2016.
3) Gala Performance of all performances at Swan Hill Town Hall during Fairfax Week
For more detailed information please refer to the attached Artist Information booklet.
