2015 Fairfax Festival “Storytelling through the Physical”
Expression of Interest Form
Application Due: Friday 19th December 2014 - 5.00pm.
Artistic Brief
Artists must use their specialist skills to work with two groups of up to ten young people from
regional communities in Victoria and NSW.
Each artist will be paired with two different groups and be required to create two, unique ten minute
performances or live art works which reflect the stories and/or experiences of the young people in
each group [Please note that performances may be shorter than 10 minutes].
This is not the Fairfax commissioning the artist to come in with a pre-planned idea and imposing it
on the groups; this is the artist collaborating with the participants, working with the group and using
the artist’s creative process and skills to shape the final performance of the participant’s stories.
The Festival takes place over three stages:
1) In- Community Residencies: Artists will work with two groups for approximately 22 hours
per group.
2) Fairfax Festival Week from the 15th – 18th of September, 2015.
3) YESFest (Young Entertainers in the Street Festival) where the created works are
performed.
