Preferred experience: At least two years on-air, Garageband audio production software, Megaseg automation software,
Radioactivity online playlist logging system, Public Radio Exchange file uploading, remote broadcasts, non-broadcast DJ
events.
____ Music Director (6-10 office hours per week)
Attach two sample playlists, preferably including some links to music files. 1) 30 songs representing a “default playlist”
which is mostly alternative, with some hip hop and electronica, and 2) 15 songs for one of the other blocks in WNJR’s
automated programming: jazz, Americana (country, blues, rock), world music, or “Club Dub” (hip hop, dance, R&B).
Breadth of interest and knowledge of music genres may be a factor in hiring.

Office hours are scheduled between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. WNJR air-clearance and
regular on-air presence preferred for all staff members. Preference may be given to those for whom
WNJR will be their only employment during the academic year.
WNJR 2011/12 Staff Positions
Faculty Advisor: Anthony Fleury
Station Manager
Supervise air-clearance process. Assign staff and volunteer office hours. Manage volunteer tasks. Coordinate
collaborations between departments. Supervise planning and execution of remote broadcasts (including sports) and nonbroadcast DJ events. Maintain the Public Inspection File (at the WNJR studio and in the college library archive), to be
updated at the end of each quarter. Hold 6 to 10 hours of regularly scheduled office hours, on at least 3 different days of the
week. Maintain daily contact with Faculty Advisor.
Music Director
Maintain and update regularly the “high rotation” category in Megaseg automation program, for show hosts to access new
music during broadcasts. Supervise review of new music. Load new music into Megaseg. Post weekly “top music” list on
wnjr.org. Collect playlists from Radioactivity and Megaseg and report to College Music Journal (CMJ) and music licensing
companies as needed. Maintain good relations with record labels. Hold 6 to 10 hours of regularly scheduled WNJR office
hours, on at least 3 different days of the week. Maintain daily contact with Station Manager. Maintain weekly contact with
Faculty Advisor via ______@wnjr.org email address. (During the academic year, we have approximately 80 hours per
week of local and syndicated programming. All other hours are filled with automated music. The default automation is a
mix of alternative, hip hop, and electronica. Club Dub on Friday and Saturday nights is a mix of dance, hip hop, and R&B.
Sundays include blocks of jazz, Americana, and world music.)
Production Manager
Record and produce station identifications, public service announcements (PSAs), and sponsor promotions. Manage liveread promotions and PSAs. Assist staff and volunteers with production projects. Hold 4 to 6 hours of regularly scheduled
WNJR office hours, on at least 2 different days of the week. Maintain daily contact with Station Manager. Maintain
weekly contact with Faculty Advisor via production@wnjr.org email address.
Programming Director
Schedule volunteer programs. Schedule Public Radio Exchange (PRX) syndicated programming and monitor broadcast of
those programs. Track messages from Pacifica and PRX, and bring important issues to the attention of the Station Manager
and Faculty Advisor. Develop system for peer feedback on radio programs. Hold 4 to 6 hours of regularly scheduled
WNJR office hours, on at least 3 different days of the week. Maintain daily contact with Station Manager. Maintain
weekly contact with Faculty Advisor via programming@wnjr.org email address.
Publicity Director
Manage WNJR Facebook site and Picasa photo site. Once each week, post a profile of a local show on wnjr.org. Make
and post flyers for recruiting and events. Hold 4 to 6 hours of regularly scheduled WNJR office hours, on at least 2 different
days of the week. Maintain daily contact with Station Manager. Maintain weekly contact with Faculty Advisor via
propaganda@wnjr.org email address.
Sponsorship Manager
Manage annual on-air fundraiser and sponsorships from local businesses and individuals. Hold 2 to 4 hours of regularly
scheduled WNJR office hours. Out-of-office hours will be compensated on a commission basis. Maintain daily contact
with Station Manager. Maintain weekly contact with Faculty Advisor via money@wnjr.org email address.
Technology Manager
Maintain audio file-sharing arrangement between WNJR computers. Manage: Radioactivity online music logging, wnjr.org
(Blogger), Sakai site, Google applications, Wordpress blogs. Hold 4 to 6 hours of regularly scheduled WNJR office hours,
on at least 2 different days of the week. Maintain daily contact with Station Manager. Maintain weekly contact with
Faculty Advisor via tech@wnjr.org email address.

Shared responsibilities: Monitor WNJR broadcast and webstream; keep the studios clean and orderly; check and respond to
snail mail, e-mail, and voice mail; study the Public Inspection File.
Missed office hours, failure to complete assigned tasks within reasonable time frame, and failure to respond to supervision
will result in termination.
