stressful working conditions and
uncertain prospects for advancement.
Unless you’re absolutely dying to get
into TV news, and ready to take any
job offered, you’d probably be well
advised to pass on this one. This job
is the closest thing I have to boot
camp.
If you have other TV skills (Reporting?
Shooting? Production assistant?
Assignments? ) we might be able to
use, it’s possible that we might be
able to come up with a hybrid position
that provides more hours than the
producing assignment alone would
yield. That involves producing two
hour-long newscasts on Saturday and
Sunday morning, which we sandwich
around Good Morning America
Weekend from 6-7am and 8-9am.
That means you’d be working
overnight on Friday and Saturday
nights.
Actual newscast producing experience
is helpful, but not necessarily a must.
The person I’m looking for must be a
polished writer, up to speed on
current events, able to calmly and
quickly adapt to unexpected changes,
and strongly self-motivated. There’s
no one watching over your shoulder
putting these newscasts together, and
you are guaranteed to fail if you
aren’t internally driven to maximize
the time you could spend sloughing
off. If I haven’t frightened you off and
you’re still reading at this point, this
