Other Activities
o Have students build geometric nets in groups of 2 to 3. ( Geometric Nets can be found on ConnectEd
Website). They will need to count the faces, vertices, edges of their solid. They will present that
information to the class on a sheet of paper. This will be displayed in the room and referenced
whenever the students are discussing geometric solids.

 Discuss how fractions are parts of a whole. Relate it to coloring a polygon

 Introduce Area

o Cheese It- Area
 Print off shapes on paper. Each student gets a few shapes ( mainly rectangles and squares).
The students will get a back of Cheese Its to cover their shapes. The students will record
how many Cheese Its it took to cover their shape.
 Discuss with students their findings on area and what area means

 Assessment can also be broken up and given in parts
