Eliana Pirovano Concert Report Graces/ Jr. Choir 1 / 2 A 1/9/2013 “Grand Festival Concert” For this term I went to the Festival Concert in Temple Square where the All- State Choir sang. This was a truly amazing experience. I am so glad I went because I was able to hear not just our wonderful madrigals, but also the Brigham Young University singers, and some great piano pieces along with it. The concert started by the BYU- Provo choir. They sang seven songs. First they sang “Lord, My God, I Trust in Thee,” this was a wonderful first song and I loved the meaning they put behind it. I could actually kind of feel the passion they had. The thing about this concert that I loved is that both the Brigham Young University choir and the All-State Choir had different themes to them. The BYU singer’s theme was “O Joy to Sing” and they surely demonstrated it in the rest of their songs: “Everyone Sang” which was super fun, and I absolutely loved. They also sang “Always Singing,” “O Joy!” “Voices on Earth,” “Tune Thy Music to Thy Heart.” All those songs were amazing, and I loved the different arrangements they put to it. Their voices were just so beautiful and blended so well. Their last song was “Yonder Come Day” and it was a great song to sing to continue on to the next parts of the concert. Then there was the organ solo, by Linda Margetts, who I got to meet during another choir experience… her piano/ organ talent is just unbelievable, and this was a wonderful piece to play. Yes it was a bit long, but truly beautiful. The All-State Choirs are a group of the best singers from each school in Utah, that come to sing and they definitely showed that they can sing. Their theme was “My Heart Goes on in Endless Song,” and I loved the song choices they had. The first two were in Eliana Pirovano Concert Report Graces/ Jr. Choir 1 / 2 A 1/9/2013 other languages, and “O Schone Nacht” is soo beautiful. I was able to hear the translations and it was so good. They also sang four other songs. This concert over all was one of the best I’ve gone to and it’s probably because of all the techniques and dynamics they were able to show. There were like 3 or 4 acapella songs, and they were so impressive. The way they were able to show the dynamics was so incredible. I’m so glad I went to it!
