EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES
Working Hours & Conditions: In compliance with applicable laws, regulations,
codes and industry standards, Suppliers are expected to ensure that their
employees have safe and healthy working conditions and reasonable daily and
weekly work schedules. Employees should not be required to work more than the
number of hours allowed for regular and overtime work periods under applicable
local, state and federal law.
Non-Discrimination: Suppliers should implement a policy to effectuate all
applicable local and federal laws prohibiting discrimination in hiring and
employment on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, age, physical disability,
national origin, creed or any other basis prohibited by law.
Child Labor: Suppliers should not use workers under the legal age for
employment for the type of work being performed in any facility in which the
Supplier is doing work for Yum. In no event should Suppliers use employees
younger than 14 years of age.
Forced and Indentured Labor: In accordance with applicable law, no Supplier
should perform work or produce goods for Yum using labor under any forms of
indentured servitude, nor should threats of violence, physical punishment,
confinement, or other forms of physical, sexual, psychological, or verbal
harassment or abuse be used as a method of discipline or control.
Notification to Employees: To the extent required by law, Suppliers should
establish company-wide policies implementing the standards outlined in this
Code and post notices of those policies for their employees. The notices should
be in all languages necessary to fully communicate the policy to its employees.

As a franchisee in The Taco Maker® / Jake’s Over the Top® / Mayan
Juice™ system, you will have the benefit of our over 30 years of
operational experience in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry.
Our ongoing commitment to you is to provide you and your staff with a
comprehensive approach to new store development, training and
operational support, marketing, and purchasing.
Franchise Licensing Representatives A Franchise Licensing
Representative will be assigned to work directly with you to answer all of
your questions and to provide consulting support in areas of site selection,
financing, lease negotiations, etc. Your Franchise Licensing Representative
will also coordinate with each of our other department heads to bring the
full power and experience of our organization into focus on your behalf.
Site Approval & Lease Negotiations To insure that all the right
elements are in place for a successful operation, each site must be
approved by The Taco Maker management. We can also act on your
behalf to negotiate the best possible lease terms.
New Store Development Using up-to-date state-of-the-art technologies,
our New Store Development Department will design the layout of your
restaurant in the most efficient manner, creating a virtual 3D image of the
facility complete with all menu boards and wall graphics for you to preview
prior to the commencement of any construction costs. These plans will
allow your local architect to complete the remaining drawings in a more
time efficient manner, and will assist your contractor greatly during the
construction process.

Upon competition of our preliminary
correspondence course, you and your operational staff will be invited to
attend The Taco Maker “U” (21 days of classroom and hands-on restaurant
training). During this extensive training process you will be certified in each
of the following:
Quality Assurance/Product Assembly
Quality Prepared Foods/Recipes
Serve Safe/Health and Safety Training
Inventory and Ordering Cost Control
Crew Selection and Staffing
General Accounting Procedures
General Accounting Practices
Marketing and Public Relations

Employee Counseling
The Operations Staff will travel to your location to assist with the training
and development of your staff members during the initial opening of your
outlet and the Grand Opening Celebration. We will provide ongoing
support, by reviewing and making recommendations in the following areas:
Daily Business Summaries, Weekly Inventory and Food Costs, Weekly
Schedule and Labor Costs as well as Monthly Profit and Loss Statements.
The operations staff will make routine visits to your location for Outlet
Evaluations and Plans.
Marketing The Marketing Department provides the following support and
material specifications for the franchise community:

Window Signs
All National Promotional Materials
Assistance with Local Marketing Materials
Purchasing Our Purchasing Department will assist you by providing
advice and counsel on maintaining proper inventory levels and timely
deliveries of both food and non-food items. Our distribution system is based
on our national purchasing programs, negotiated with the combined buying
power of all our stores.
